It would be a whole lot nicer if they would update the software before shipping this out

So I've been using this now for a couple months and I just got to say it got me out of a ticket when I was driving in Ohio. It gives you at least a 30 to 6 second heads up before you'll see the cops. I will warn people though that if you have any of those construction speeders, those were Saturday off and I also noticed that when you go around to any of the big, super stores, those will also trigger false alarms, but for the most part it works every time, you'll figure it out i found if it slowly goes up there's a cop but if it just jumps to the full bar it's a false alarm

I've tried a lot of detectors and even have the R8 which is the version of this with arrows. But this is my favorite of them. The arrows are nice, but its honestly not worth paying almost twice the price. And this unit is a lot smaller which I perfer. I've noticed this unit isn't as chatty as my R8. The R8 goes off way too much for my taste because its warning you as you approach a cop and long after you passed him. This R4 unit gives me everything I need to slow down in time to avoid a ticket.

For those reviewers complaining it beeps constantly and doesn't save locations, it absolutely does save and auto mute, but you have to drive past the false signal 3 or more times before it saves.
This thing has incredible range, a mile or more sometimes. I went through the instructions and customized a bunch of settings, including being able to set different colors for different signals. Auto quiet and auto mute mean that I only get enough interruption to get me to pay attention without it actually being annoying. Its started saving false signals and already I can drive all over town without it triggering all over. You can also set an automatic highway mode based on your speed so it's settings automatically change when you're on the freeway. Plus you can set it to show different information on the main screen when it's not reporting an active signal. I picked a clock. I love it's range, it's customizability, and it's auto gps saving. I may even consider a second one for my other car.

Ive owned radar detectors for most of my life. I couldn't believe me the range of the R3, so after a while when the R4 came out, I decided to buy one although was a hefty price. THE RANGE IS UNMATCHED. going well over the speed limit on the highway, every single time, no matter if they were around a corner, up the hill crest, down the hill crest, as soon as the KA goes off, slow down move to middle lane, every time someone without this, will get stopped and ticketed a couple cars in front of you. going pretty fast in left lane, I had 20-25 seconds to slow down every time. from the first KA alert. If you just drive a little fast you will have more time. with the R3 I was always saved, but it was really close sometimes, too close.
bc they caught on, and now angle the car instead of straight down the road giving us miles of warning and producing no tickets for speeding, they sit at an angle clipping your warning range, but with this detector it doesnt matter. unless you are super rich, and get the r7,r8, you dont need arrows to tell you where they are if you slow down on the first alert until you see them. if its a straight away it could be miles ahead. I couldn't stop laughing at all the dummies getting pulled over. I was the fastest one on the road. now lidar/laser is another issue. for that you need a jammer which is very costly, or you can get something else I have called veil. its a coating you put on headlights and front plate and chrome on front, and it severely reduces the range for lidar bc it absorbs it. military tech. youll be able to slow down 99% of the time in time. so I say get the R4 and Veil which is a countermeasure, so when the R4 tells you that mr popo is trying to get your speed with lidar gun, and tells you which type/company gun it is, you slow down and be saved from that.

ok the k filter isnt perfect but just hit the mute button twice and it learns it. and wont alert.

its a part of the sensitivity, it has 2 antennae, it picks up everything, keep it on highway, it falses less, where i live they still use K on local roads so i have to leave it on. dont want a 1% chance . it helps for you to know what your local, county, and state police use for radar, K, KA, Lidar/laser. so you can turn it off maybe the band if not used but if you cross a state line it could be different. You wont encounter lidar everywhere bc they are $7K a gun where regular KA is $700. BUT YOU MAY encounter Lidar in NY, NJ, CT,
not in PA. there are websites which detail what bands/guns are used in what state and are accurate. usually if using lidar the car will be perpendicular to the road. just a tip. with this detector and KA you will know they are there way before the radar gun can even see your car, much less detect your speed. with lidar, the gun can see you and detect your speed before you can see the car.
