I purchased this toy for my dog on Oct. 25th, 2023. I know that no dog toy is completely indestructible, but I was hoping that the alligator's head would last a little bit longer than what my attached picture shows. Of course, it's not the designer's fault either. My golden retriever does love his gator toy!!!

The toy is very sturdy and durable however it is quite heavy and can do some damage to to nick nacks and such. It sounds like a bowling ball hitting the ground when our girl plays with it.

This thing is hard plastic feeling with a softer rubbery thing added to the body. I have an aggressive chewer (choco lab puppy) and got this for him for Christmas a year ago. Half the rubbery stuff is gone, we have had to pay attention so he doesn't eat that part. But that took a good six or so months to come off and comes off in small chunks. The rest of the hard body shows chew-wear but overall it's been fantastic for a year in. And here's the thing - he has a toy box and consistently chooses this toy when he wants to chew on something (versus choosing a toy we or our other dog will play with with him)! He is now 2 and has typical lab energy that he will devote to this toy for an hour, easily. For the cost, it is absolutely worth the purchase, 100%! I would give it 5 stars if the rubbery stuff didn't come off, but I will absolutely buy another of these for when we finally have to toss this one.

I love gators. Alfred the alligator was my favorite cartoon growing up as a child. The gator was my sons mascot. The gators in South Carolina have been around since a long time. They're the oldest creatures in South Carolina. But just because they can live a thousand years doesn't mean they won't go extinct. They protect the bald Eagle nest. They surround it. The bald Eagle in turn will feed the gator fish. The gator protect the great egrets. They can get to more than 10 foot long. They recently had a hunt where they killed like a 2000 year old gator. They were draining a lake in our state. I don't know the reasoning of draining the lake I think to work on the dams and water system. And the electrical but they found a huge massive gator. It's historical . But a baby egg of a baby was seen. We had one in our neighborhood it was too close to the playground. Having this toy will teach those living in the south to have a healthy respect for the gators. It is an educational toy. We had a white gator at the aquarium that lived for many years. My dog did not chew the gator he was afraid of it. But it would have been good for him because he is a strong chewer. It's is ok if your child is afraid of the gator it helps to have a healthy fear and respect of the gator. Some people farm them and raise them from babies. The meat and leather are good. You have to have a license to kill them they governered by DNR.

My dog who is an aggressive chewer enjoyed this toy very much. The middle portion he had a fun time with & stayed in tact. He loved the end pieces of the alligator but in a short period of time after his constant chewing, the ends turn into sharp pieces of hard plastic that fall off. This I found could definitely be a choking hazard & took it away. Into the garbage this went. He had fun with it for a short period of time but this was not worth my money & I don't recommend.
