Currently , refurbished Dell 7390's sell for $220 with an Intel i5, 16gb ram and 256gb ssd. These are enterprise level laptops. I appreciate development platforms, and I understand the expense of raspberry pi boards right now, but how can this price be justified? I think this price would be perfectly reasonable with the highest, or nearly highest, components. It's basically a breadboard with a display and a hinge. A lot of people, including myself, would love to use this development platform.

I own the 1st CrowPi and love it. The built-in screen is smaller than I prefer, and I am 68. I got this CrowPi2 and love the larger screen. Elecrow made some great improvements with this one. The keyboard sits inside the case and removes to expose the hardware for the experiments.
One of my favorite upgrades is that the 8X8 LED matrix uses RGB LED's instead of just red ones. You can program it to make some really awesome colorful displays.
The basic version does not come with a RaspberryPi, but it does come with an SD card with everything you need already loaded on it. You just insert the card in your RaspberryPi and it is ready to go. I did find out that I had to remove the heatsinks I had put on my RaspberryPi so it can fit inside the CrowPi2 unit. There is a cooling fan in the CrowPi2, so there is no need for the heatsinks.
The software makes it convenient to go through the lessons as you don't have to go online to download and view a PDF file on your computer like other systems require.
Both the 1st CrowPi and the CrowPi2 are well designed and are high quality units. They make learning to program the RaspberryPi to be controlled by a joystick or buttons and control motors and read sensors easy to do. Most of the sensors and buttons are already wired and ready to use so you can jump right into learning to program the RaspberryPi.
The lessons on the CrowPi2 are laid out in short paragraphs that you advance one by one as you learn. You advance to the next paragraph with a forward button. They explain the python code line by line and have you type them in the program area of the screen. They also allow you to copy and paste the code if you do not feel like typing them in yourself.
Besides the lessons, there is a section with more experiments you can do.
There is a lot more you can do with this, including learning to modify a Minecraft game or go on the internet with the built-in Chromium web browser.
Overall, I think this is well worth the price making it convenient to learn and program a RaspberryPi.

This has been by far the most entertaining method of learning/practicing my programming. As well as introducing multiple mechanical mechanisms that can be programmed or worked with for different projects. I know the price tag may scare some people but I assure you it's worth the money if you are serious about learning something it's offering. Contains hours/days of content and then you can go off the books and use it to play around on your own.

This product is great for helping beginners learn about electronics and programming. The guided lessons are quick and informative. The buikt in keyboard and screen make the system easy to use. The biggest issue I have seen so far is the warnings in the instruction booklet being very easy to miss and given late in the assemblyprocess. You can not use both battery and outlet power at the same time. I ended up frying my battery pack. I have used other products from this company and ended up needing two power supplies to make them work. The rest of this kit has been excellent. It is great for anyone old enough that the small parts won't be a choking hazard.
