Money well spent!

I just got this. Setup was a snap, maybe 10 minutes. I got this as I got trouble getting my favorite talk radio shows due to interference (LEDs, mobile phone amp, etc.) and weak signal, and on and on and on... I fought it tooth and nail and final gave up. Got this little gem of a radio for a bit over $100, threw on a pair of old speakers (powered) and BING-BAM-BOOM crystal clear, radio. Yeah, could have played the radio stations through my computer (most stream) but this is much, much more convenient. Money well spent.

Also, having spent the majority of my life outside the USA and - well - those overseas radio stations are a real treat! I am listening to BBC World Service for the first time in years.

BTW I put this on a 2.4Mhz wifi network instead of a 5Mhz. Why? Distance with a 2.4Mhz is better and it penetrates walls, etc. better also. Besides, you wouldn't gain anything with 5Mhz as the data transfer is so small for radio there would be absolutely no difference. In truth, I don't know if it even can use 5Mhz. I have both but it only saw my 2.4Mhz network which is a better fit for it anyway.

I hope in the future to see improvements on this radio, the first being a better and bigger speaker, but for now, it does what I need. Money well spent!

EDIT: 13 July 2023 - To add to above, IMHO powered speakers are needed to use with this radio as the speaker is truly limited, not bad but definitely not good. It's just too small. In truth, it's just not up to use for anything besides maybe a wake-up alarm or very low volume radio (background noise) at the office.

EDIT: 22 July 2023 - I had some distortion and it appeared to get worse in the following days, thinking the speaker was failing, I called CRANE. We chatted, nice guy, and the problem turned out NOT to be the speaker in the radio. The distortion was happening ONLY on a specific talk radio station (iHeart 590 KQNT out of Spokane WA) when the speaker would raise his voice, it would distort a bit (still does). Bottom line is the broadcasting station that is streaming this online is putting it out too hot, it's amplified a bit too much causing it to distort when speaker talks too loud into the microphone. It doesn't happen on any other stations that I checked. Setting the equalizer to 'FLAT' does help a bit but not much else you can do and of course that's my favorite radio station. LOL! Thought I would add this just in case someone else has this issue...
Why didn't I buy this sooner

An absolutely great, stand-out product. 5 + Stars. Works great and its lot's of fun to use. While I'm working at my desk I can listen to news programs from all over the world or I can choose to listen by genre, for instance, its great fun to listen to the old detective shows featured on the radio dramas in the 40's and 50's (and you can find those stations all day long). I also like news and talk-radio. The radio offers the chance to listen to local news from every part of the U.S. to try to gain a different perspective than what the major networks try to force-feed you. And the price can't be beat. Treat yourself or a friend, its a value you can't beat. (P.S. I have no business relationship with CC Crane, etc. ,the manufacturer).
This is an Awesome Radio. Love it.

I am not techy. I set my radio up in five minutes and immediately began experimenting. I listened to stations in Germany, Scotland and Canada for a few minutes. After I got the hang of the menu, I selected by "location" and made my way to Missouri and St. Louis stations. I know that radio market, so I was able to get a better "grip" on things. I found terrestrial stations I knew. I also realized some stations are purely internet stations. I have many tube radios, a stereo, shortwave, etc. I enjoy tuning around at night to find stations on the AM dial. I almost felt guilty buying an internet based "radio." But I gotta say, the CC WiFi is a blast. Listening to 107.3 Classical FM out of St. Louis as I type this. (I live in Kentucky). I have other C Crane products. All are top notch.
If the online station-bundling service dies, this radio should still be useable.

It could be a bit louder (on some stations), but THIS web-radio will probably not become obsolete the way older ones (e.g., Levia) did when Reciva (the Web station-bundling service) went belly-up. This CC-WiFi-3 seems well designed and reasonably easy to set up. When I want Big Sound from Klipsch speakers, I can feed its output to my stereo system, but for background music from European stations this is fine as is, so I'm grateful.
Excellent Internet Radio

I have had two previous internet radios in the past three years. First was a brand from China called Auna. Worked fine until a month after purchase, the illumination on its screen went out. Auna told me not to send it back, but they did send me a new radio. Fair enough, but the display went out on that after a couple of months. The I purchased the smallest Ocean Digital which worked fine for two years, the On/Off switch apparently wore out. I decided to go for an upgrade and that is why I chose the CCrane Wifi unit. The documentation for set up is clearly written and if you are patient first timer you should have no problem. I have my unit with a line out plugged into a radio with a better speaker, and all is OK. I would give an evaluation of five stars, because the speaker that comes with the unit is rather small. But the workman/workwoman ship is very good, and I heartily recommend this internet radion.
