The answer I was looking for

I needed a way to get audio to wireless speakers for my temporary backyard theater. This does it perfectly. I did have to make sure bluetooth was turned off on all surrounding devices during set up since they grabbed the signal first.
Exactly What I Was Looking For Wireless Headphones

It took me a minute to pair with my beats headphones but I figured it out via a couple trials and error. My initial search and interest in purchasing this product was to use it in my live IEM setup without cables. I am awaiting my Shure Aonic 215 True Wireless Earphones with Bluetooth to pair and test with this device that will be directly connected to my Shure PSM 300 IEM's. With my Beats headphones as a monitor and running through a sound system there was about a less than 1s latency coming back to me. Live use that's acceptable but not for recording. Yes I recommend this product other than use with recordings.
Easy to use and a life saver

I have some significant hearing loss and wear hearing aids. When I fly and have to connect traditional ear plug headphones I have to remove my hearing aids, and then can barely hear anything even with the volume up...... kills me. This allows me to keep my hearing aids in, use my own soft comfortable over the hear headphones and still watch what ever I want when I travel (for work which is frequently). Love it and would buy it again.
Works well. The AirFly SE is the pick for most people.

If you're trying to watch movies on a plane:

...And you have wired headphones? Plug them in.
...And you have over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones with an aux-in (like a Bose QC35 or Sony WH-1000)? Plug them in.

But what if you have a pair of those ubiquitous Bluetooth earbuds, like Apple AirPods or Samsung Galaxy Buds? There's no way to plug a cable in, and most planes don't yet have in-seat bluetooth connections, though I'm starting to see them.

The solution is the AirFly, which acts as a 3.5mm audio to Bluetooth transmitter, giving your headphones something to pair with.

Normally you're used to your phone being the Bluetooth transmitter, such that there's a UI that lets you pick amongst devices to pair with. There's no screen on the AirFly, so the way pairing works is, you turn on pairing mode on the AirFly and your headphones, and the AirFly connects to the first device it sees in pairing mode. God forbid you happen to been in a small space where others happen to also have their devices in pairing mode, which will confuse the heck out of the device, but this seems unlikely.

Most users of this device will be watching movies, where latency is important. The AirFly seems to perform better than cheaper alternatives.

Battery life is ~20 hours. The AirFly Duo gives you 2 more hours and pairs with 1 more device. The AirFly Pro gives you 5 more hours and also acts as a receiver (letting you connect your phone to a car without Bluetooth, for example). Both upgrades seem unnecessary for most. Just get the SE if you want to watch movies on a plane.
Seamless Audio Connectivity - A Four-Star Amazon Review

The Twelve South AirFly Pro Bluetooth Wireless Audio Transmitter/Receiver has proven to be a reliable and versatile companion, enabling me to enjoy wireless audio wherever I go. This nifty gadget effortlessly bridges the gap between my AirPods and devices with a 3.5mm audio jack, earning it a solid four-star rating.

The standout feature of the AirFly Pro is its seamless connectivity. Pairing my AirPods or wireless headphones with various devices like airplanes, gym equipment, TVs, iPads, and more has become a breeze. This has enhanced my audio experience during travel, workouts, and entertainment, allowing me to enjoy my favorite tunes or shows without being tied down by pesky cords.

The dual functionality as both a transmitter and receiver is a significant advantage. Whether I need to transmit audio from my TV to my AirPods for late-night viewing or receive audio from gym equipment, the AirFly Pro has got me covered on both fronts. The versatility of this device makes it a valuable addition to my tech arsenal.

The battery life of the AirFly Pro is commendable. With up to 16 hours of playback time on a single charge, it can keep up with my on-the-go lifestyle. Additionally, the USB-C charging port ensures quick and efficient charging, making it ready for use whenever I need it.

The compact and lightweight design makes it easy to carry around in my bag or pocket. Its unobtrusive size and simple operation allow for hassle-free setup and use. The included travel pouch adds an extra layer of protection, ensuring it stays safe and secure during travel.

One aspect that could be improved is the audio latency when used as a transmitter. While it generally performs well, there is a slight delay in audio transmission, which might be noticeable during fast-paced videos or gaming. However, this is a common issue with wireless audio transmitters, and it does not detract significantly from its overall performance.

In conclusion, the Twelve South AirFly Pro Bluetooth Wireless Audio Transmitter/Receiver is a reliable and versatile solution for wireless audio connectivity. Its ease of use, long battery life, and dual functionality make it a valuable tool for enjoying audio on the go.

Despite a minor audio latency issue, the AirFly Pro delivers on its promises, providing a seamless and cord-free audio experience. If you're seeking a practical and portable audio transmitter/receiver, the AirFly Pro is a smart investment that will undoubtedly enhance your audio adventures.
