Edit, UPDATE (April 10th, 2023):
Previously reviewed in early 2023, but updating this review! We left town for several days but cleaned as much as we could before leaving. We noticed quite a few flies coming back leading up to the trip, so we wanted to leave no space for the buggers to thrive. We came home to a pretty hot environment, but no noticeable bugs! This thing caught maybe 5-10 bugs in during our absence. It was kinda disgusting so I didn't give it the most thorough look, but each quadrant of the sticky pad had at least 4 bugs.

Glad it did its job, but standing by my original conclusion: it's a tad overkill if you only get the occasional fruit flies. Just clean regularly, as we should all be doing to stay healthy anyway! In doing so you won't have to spend your hard-earned cash. If you get flies regularly, this is a great purchase to supplement cleaning your kitchen or washroom.

We bought this a WHILE ago, like a few months ago. It was coming around the winter time so the fruit flies were already disappearing completely from our place. This thing did catch a few though. Recently had a heat wave and a few flies came back. We were on vacation a few days before and forgot to clean the sink before leaving though"¦

Coming into the warmer months, we'll see how it fares. It's still really sticky and lights up the kitchen at night. The blue light is very obnoxious, but it makes sense to attract the little buggers.

Only buy this if your place actually has a lot of fruit flies, it'll do its job. If you only have a few here and there during the warmer seasons, just clean your sinks and countertops regularly. Our under-the-sink garbage bin was full of them, so we got rid of that. Just don't give these flies a place to live and you're good; no need for a fancy, sticky, night light.

I game alot in the dark so my screens attract gnats during the summer time, you know the ones that manage to slip in thru your screens like invasive ninjas?

This is easy to use (you just slide the sticky trap into the base). The trap is very sticky. Bought it because we were getting a lot of flies in the house. To date (one year later) we have caught exactly two flies. We have caught an unbelievable number of gnats or fruit flies (really really small bugs). So this, with one of those Salt Guns are a good defense from bugs in the hot months.

Plus this in near plants (even if you don't notice any insects!) and wherever you store fruit and vegetables that aren't in the fridge. Worth it. My only complaint is how hard it is to twist the plug to change it's direction if needed to fit a particular outlet.

I have about 20 houseplants and gnats happen. (I also had an avocado turn quickly that I forgot about and the flies appeared to remind me). This did the trick to eliminate the gnat circle of life and I am pest free for the moment. Going to retire this until I need it again. It is a VERY blue light that is always on so hopefully you have an available outlet somewhere central where the 24/7 blue light won't bother you. I unplugged it once right after I got it as I needed the outlet for something and when I plugged it back in it started a slow blink and I was worried it was broken but it returned to solid after a few hours and has continued to work just fine.
