Building out a van that is basically bare metal in the back. I covered the wheel wells, side panels and ceiling. Road noise is still there but a major improvement.

I used this on the roof of my car (and a few other upper horizontal metal surfaces), the thicker butyl rubber sound deadening/thermal insulation mats are very heavy, and I did not want to put them above my headliner. I don't recommend installing this on a very hot day to start. When it gets too hot the rubber/adhesive side tends to stick to the backing paper (unlike the other thicker products I have been using elsewhere in the car), making for a slightly more difficult install. I started keeping the box inside an air-conditioned area, and retrieving sheets individually for installation - that made a big difference in being able to peel the backing paper off. Other than that, make sure when you install, you use the installation roller to force the potential air bubbles out in one direction to an open/unstuck edge, or else air will get trapped, creating a potential adhesion loss area. Other than those issues, it seems to stick well to a properly prepared surface (make sure any cleaning solvent has completely evaporated). It does a fairly obvious job of mitigating resonance in large flat metal panels. Hopefully it will maintain it's adhesion to the painted metal surface for as long as I want it there. Time will tell 🤞.

I used this in my single cab pickup truck (89 ford.) It only took half the box (10 sheets or 25 square feet) to do the floors, but I bought the big box because I plan to do the doors, back wall, and maybe the roof as well. One thing I learned is that the temperature matters when you're doing the installation. It was around 55F when I started in the evening, and when it dipped down into the 40s the sheets would not stick to the metal, and were hard to compress with the roller. That's why I ended up only doing the floors and not any vertical surfaces; i will have to wait for a nice hot day. The other thing is that the foil layer on top is razor sharp at the edges, definitely wear gloves! I didn't notice until after but I have little papercuts all over my fingers. Aside from those things, the install was easy and straightforward. The sheets cut easily with scissors, and any goo that ends up on your hands or scissors can be cleaned up with acetone (nail polish remover), or lacquer thinner. I would use this stuff again.
