The best bang for your buck 3 channel wifi dash cam on the market
Yao Chang✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 19, 2023
Since I am getting a new car, I want to buy a new dash cam to protect my car.
I searched around for a 3 channel dash cam and this Vanture E3 dash cam is a perfect fit.
I am not going to bore you with all the specs and features.  you can read that in the webpage.
Here is what I love about the E3 Dash cam.

Reason to buy a dash cam is to protect yourself during an accident. If you don't have proof even when you are not at fault. A lot of time Insurance companies will decide it is 50/50 fault for both drivers.  So get a Dash cam to proof you are not at fault.

What I am looking for when buying a dash cam.  I have few requirements for the new dash cam

1. It must be 3 channels, so I can capture the front, inside, and rear view.  you never know when or where an accident will happen, so having total coverage is very useful.

2. It must use a capacitor instead of a battery.  I bought a few dash cams before and the battery is always the first one to fail in the hot sun.  So picking a dash cam with a capacitor will keep the dash cam working in the hot summer.

3. Wifi access to the dash cam,  I want to download my video when I am not near my computer, so I don't need to wait till I get home to download it from my computer

4. GPS built in.  A dashcam with GPS can show your speed and direction when you need it,  you can select not to show on the video, but it is better to have it than not.

5. Long warranty.  Most dash cams come with a 6 month or 1 year warranty.  Vanture offers an 18 month warranty.  I want to make sure Dash cam can survive a minimum 2 very hot summers .

6. Parking mode.  Sometimes I have to park my car on the street and with parking mode turned on, I feel much safer if someone ever bumps into my car.

7. Good video quality.  You want the video quality to be at least 1080p, higher the better, but higher resolution takes up space.  I think the 2.5K is more than enough for clear front camera and 1080P for both inside and rear is pretty good as well. I checked reviews on many dash cams video quality before I select this one.  Another plus is  I can buy an optional CPL filter to remove window reflections.  Only a few dash cams offer such add on.

After a few hours of research, This Vanture E3 dash cam fits the bill and has all the requirements I am looking for.  I am very happy with a week of usage and would recommend it to anyone looking for a dash cam.

Other than the points above I mentioned.  Here are some other things I loved about the dash cam after a week of use.

1. Adjustable front lens.  I mount the dash cam on my passenger side, so it doesn't block my view, but the video angle is more on the right side of the car. With an adjustable lens, I can make it more focused on the driver side.

2. Remote voice control.  I never think I will use it, but it makes a big difference, you can tell the dash cam to take a photo or turn on its WiFi.  so you don't need to look around on the dash cam for a tiny button to take a photo or video.  (dash cam does take video automatically, but when the SD card runs out of space it will erase older video to make room for new one.  With voice control you can make sure the video is not erased when running out of space)

3. Wifi App.  The Vanture App is pretty easy to use, you can tell the dash cam to turn on the Wifi, and the app will connect to the dash cam to access videos in it.  you can download the video for later viewing.  Note: after you download the video, make sure you hit the synchronize option to save it,  otherwise you can't find it on your phone with other apps such as youtube or file explorer.

4. Magnetic mount.  I love the magnetic mount on the dash cam,  I don't think you need to use it often.  But when I was playing around with it, it made mounting and dismounting the dash cam such an easy job.  No longer do I need to look for a tiny clip or button to push, just apply a bit of force and it dismount from the base.  But the mount is pretty strong, I drove some rough roads and it never fell off from the base mount.

5. Support.  I had an issue with the dash cam's MPH number higher than the actual speed, I contacted the support and within an hour, they told me where to download and upgrade my firmware with clear instructions.   That makes me feel much better that someone can answer my question right away, they also have a Facebook page, so you know they will not MIA when you need warranty service.

6. Support 512G SD Card,  only very few dash cams can take up to 512G of SD card.  Most dash cams are limited to 128G only,  with 512G space, I don't have to worry about my videos getting erased because I ran out of space on a long road trip.

Now let's talk about what I don't like or wish they offer.

1. Mount adjustment, you can only adjust angle front and back, tile up and down, but you can adjust left or right.  It is not a big deal for the front camera since you adjust the front lens.  But for the inside dash cam you just have to live with it, good thing it has wide angle lens.

2. CPL filter is not included,  I think they should have CPL lens included in the purchase,  I see the huge difference with and without the filter on my windows glare.  I no longer see the glare on my video when I have the CPL filter on it.  It also makes night time videos a tiny bit darker as well.  but at least you can remove it if you want.

3. Font on the manual book is too small.  Maybe I am just getting old, but the manual book font is tiny, making things harder to read.  And I don't see a way to download PDF, I suggest vendor put it on their website.

4. WiFi is not always on.  I have to push a tiny button on the dash cam in order to turn on WiFi and access the video.  But this happened to all the dash cams, not just this one.  I just wish I could just click on the app and auto connect to it.

BTW, Installation of the rear camera is not that hard,  it takes me less than 10 min to run the wire.   And if someone hits me from the rear I have a clear video of it.

After all, for under 300 bucks, I think this is the best bang for your buck to buy.
Don't buy the cheap dash cam, they won't last and when you need it the most you don't have the video you need.
A Good Dash Cam for Most
Phillip✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 16, 2023
I recently had the opportunity to purchase a dash cam that I felt was needed. There are too many accidents that occur on the road today as well as damage that happens to vehicles that are parked. This oftentimes leads to he said/she said, i.e, your word against mine. Dashcams are a potential solution to these potential issues. I felt the need to protect myself and looked at many online reviews of various products. I really wanted something that was simple to use and could view what happens on the road in front of me, in my vehicle, as well as behind me.

I settled on the Vantrue Element 3. It seemed to be a well-reviewed brand and I took a chance on the new model. It monitors the front of the vehicle, as they all do, and has a camera for the interior as well as a camera to record the activity behind my vehicle. As I drive a minivan, I needed a product that has wiring adequate for the length needed for coverage. As I was also looking for monitoring of my vehicle while parked, I also had to invest in hardwiring the vehicle and purchased their kit.

So, my experience with the dashcam was decent. I think the mounting hardware for the cameras could be improved. Once mounted, they strictly go up and down. I wish they used a ball joint mount to allow for more flexibility. Before considering using the parking mode and having to hardwire the dashcams, I used the charging cable to plug into the lighter. I had more than enough wiring to reach the minivan's back window. I was quite happy with its function. The video quality on all the cameras is very good. You have the option to display which camera you want to see - one, two, or all three. I was relatively happy with the device, so I did hardwire it with their kit. The kit that I purchased requires an attachment to the fuse box to maintain power. Lesson learned; they have an OBD power cable available, which may have been a better choice for ease of installation. The kit that I purchased uses "add a fuse" to existing fuses. Make sure to choose one that is linked to something that is not critical, just in case. I chose one that is connected to a power seat. While they provide various fuse types, they only provide one of each. This was an issue for me because I needed to attach one for a constant power source but also needed a separate one for the accessory power source. I ended up using another kit for this, so it worked out. Another plus is the ability to use voice commands. You can use this feature to perform the basic functions of the dash cam. It also has a remote, but I have not used it yet.

Pluses:
Decent video quality
Controls are easy enough to operate
Hardwiring was not difficult nor too time-consuming. The kit is helpful.

Cons:
I find that connecting to the app takes too many steps and it does not stay connected, but this admittedly could be a user error.
The mount for the cameras only goes up and down. It is not a typical ball joint that allows for more movement flexibility.

In summary, I think that it is a worthwhile purchase. The price is competitive, and you get more than you generally get from many competitors. Most dashcams only view the activity in front of the vehicle, this allows me to view much more. It has great functionality, and while I had a few hiccups with hardwiring, it was not a deal breaker. I am happy with my purchase and do recommend it.
the adhesive needs to be stronger.

Love the camera and the App but the adhesive needs to be stronger. And the customer support is great.
Excellent premium dashcam

The media could not be loaded. We'd only had our last car for 3 months before an uninsured driver sideswiped us on the highway and totaled it. Luckily it was clear he was at fault, but I realized he could have tried to put the legal and financial blame on us, resulting in a lot of worry and legal fees. So I decided for our replacement car we'd get a good dashcam. I was quickly overwhelmed by just how many come up when you try to start shopping for one. And how do you pick? They all claim to do basically the same thing. After a lot of research I decided that if I was going to buy, install, and use one daily, reliability was the most important factor. This thing needs to work for those 5 seconds when I truly need it to! I went with Vantrue because they are an established name brand for dashcams. They've been around awhile, been top picks on review sites like The Wirecutter, and all they do is make dashcams. I got the E3 because it seemed like the best one they have for my car.

At first I was wondering if I was going to need to pay more to have a professional install it because I wanted a "clean" look without any wires hanging down or anything. But once I started I saw how easy it actually is. If you look at the trim in your car, at first it seems pretty solid, but there's actually some "cracks" that you can gently pry up (they include a small plastic tool to help) and push the wire into. It's almost like they designed cars knowing people would want to run wires through them. The whole install took me about 15 minutes. the rear camera wire was even long enough that I could do some weird routing to avoid the airbag part of the door pillar, and we have a Mazda SUV.

the UI for the camera is great. my gf was quickly annoyed by the beeps it makes, but I was able to turn them all off in the settings, making it totally silent. Once I figured out how to use their app, I realized I didn't even have to use the camera to change settings, you can change anything you want using that. I was really impressed by the wifi connectivity part of the whole thing. To connect with the app, you push a button on the camera (or just say "turn on wifi" using voice control) and then click through a couple things in the app. I've had some horrible experiences with other apps where your phone needs to connect to a custom hotspot on a device (like my terrible LG washing machine) but this worked perfect the first time. it even reminded me to turn off my VPN. I was also really happy that the wifi hotspot isn't always on. Some devices with wifi just blast out a hotspot 24/7 even if you aren't using it, which people could use to track you or try to hack. little things like that really show the attention to detail. The camera also can connect on the much faster 5Ghz wifi band, which is practically unheard of for an IoT device like this. This makes downloading large video files much faster. It was NOT the default though, you need to go into the settings and change this from 2.4 to 5ghz wifi.

Once I started reviewing the recordings, I was glad to see I could clearly make out license plates with the rear camera. The rear doesn't have as high of a resolution as the front, but I could definitely read the plates of cars that pulled behind me at traffic lights. The night vision was good too. I included a video of a drive I took on a very dark street where there are few streetlights. The night vision really helps brighten the scene. During the day the quality is good too, although I do get some reflection of my dash on the windshield. I saw that vantrue offers a special lens filter for this model that can help cut glare. I couldn't find it on amazon, but I was able to order it off vantrues site for $20 shipped. The cabin-facing camera used a wide enough angle that it could capture the driver and passenger but since I had mounted it on the passenger side, it was more like the side of the driver.

the camera also comes with a little wireless remote clicker thing that you can stick anywhere on your dash and take a still picture (or lock an important video). It wasn't clear to me why this would be useful until later. So, say you are driving along and you see a suspicious car parked in front of your neighbors house. You can quickly take a stealthy picture of it using the clicker. Then, once you park and connect via the app, you can browse to the Pictures folder and quickly retrieve it and email it to your neighbor. If you didn't have this ability, you'd have to search through the 100+ 1min video files for the right one, then play it, looking for the car, freeze frame, and save a still pic. It would take forever.

So overall, I'm pretty happy with it and I'm glad I went with the nicer model because all the extra features are actually worth it.
Great camera overall and does everything decent. Wish certain things were better.

Overall the dash cam is great. I love the fact that I can assess recorded footage via the cameras on board Wi-Fi. Installation was a breeze and so far the durability of the camera seems great. It isn't falling from the windshield and doesn't have a distorted display from Texas hot summers like the last three dash cams I've owned would do within a month of ownership. I love the wireless action button for quick video saves, and even picture snapshots. I also love the quick action microphone mute button for those private phone conversations you don't want recorded or those private in car conversations. I also love the camera's three channel capability. It is easy to turn on and off each channel when you don't want a particular channel recording or if you just want to save space. My only wishes were that camera quality was a little bit better for the price and a cloud -based storage option although you can access video and photo footage via Wi-Fi. You have to be near the camera within a couple of feet. It would be nice to assess video anywhere I think for the money you are paying for the third channel I would have expected a little better, camera quality and the camera to be a little bit slimmer, so it is easier integrated within more vehicle models. It is honestly a bit bulky. Overall, the camera is good and gets a four out of five for me.
