I use this product as a tool to make sure my band is playing at safe volumes. It can be frustrating when some random person says "you're too loud" (that same person also usually chooses to sit as close to the band as possible...) So having this as a safety measure and a reference that we are infact, at a safe volume for our patrons and bar staff, is a great reassurance. I'm a poor judge of volume, as anything above 60db hurts my ears immensely, so this tool reassures me that we are loud enough, but not too loud. We're not a world famous rock band playing a stadium (~120db), we're playing bars where anything over 95 is overkill.

After 2 short uses, I found it dead on 3rd use- all within 30 minutes of opening the package. Found that the batteries while still in the battery compartment, they were loose fitting. I had to create a foam brace to keep them tight. The good news it I was using this to compare settings on surround sound system and it helped immensely finding the baseline. once I had a reasonable "max" for my volume, then adjusting front, left right, center, and rears was a lot easier. Once I dialed it in at maximum volume, no matter how loud I had the system, the surround is always dialed in for all of the channels. This is really going to help with all of the systems we install.

I used this to test the car stereo for my son. He's very happy that it can injure his hearing at max volume. Side benefit, I can educate him against it with a scientific tool and not just old man ranting.
