Good, stable knee brace for patellofemoral pain
nic h✓ Verified Purchase•January 9, 2024
This is a good brace for stability and support for patellofemoral pain as a result of meniscus damage and degeneration causing severe narrowing of the joint space. It can't completely eliminate the pain, but it makes it possible for me to walk for exercise without severe pain. I do wish the patellar ring was tighter, but it works good enough for short term use. Thanks for a good product at a very reasonable price!
This brace is amazing!

My dog ran into my leg, dislocated my knee cap, fractured it and chipped my femur. I was in an immobilizing brace for about 9 days. This week I got put into a XL DonJoy Performer Hinged Patella Stabilizer Knee Brace at my orthopedists office. They had someone from DonJoy working there who fitted the brace, made sure I knew it was going to be close to $100 and sent me out the door. Within 10 minutes I realized that brace has a seam straight down the middle of the back, it is stitched, just on the inside, with nylon thread and it was eating into the back of my knee.
I immediately came home to shop for liners. I wore the DonJoy over my jeans the next day and I could still feel the seam rubbing. No way a liner was going to save me from it if denim couldn't. Came home to shop for braces. Noticed no other brace I looked at had a seam straight down the back of the leg. Ordered 3 different braces to try. Meanwhile the liners arrived and I still get poked with the stitching through them. The braces came in and after looking them over I started with this one. I just finished packing the other 2 up to return them. The others were cheaper and it showed.
I love that I don't have to pull a brace over my toes which is really hard right now since I can't bend my knee and I don't have to pull and tug on it to try to get my knee cap in the right spot. The DonJoy brace doesn't even have finger pulls to help with that process either. This one does so if you don't feel like unwrapping and repositioning, you can give it a tug to get it in the right place without sticking your fingers into the knee hole and bumping your still bruised and very sore knee to try to adjust your brace.
So far I haven't had any problems with it sliding down with jeans on but the tabs will really help if that does happen. I found with the immobilizing brace that the fabric of my pants made a huge difference in how often I had to pull it up.
I realized putting this on the first time that I could change the angle a bit on the straps if they bothered me. The covers on the hinges are a really nice touch and they will hold the velcro straps if you need them to. So far nothing has bothered me. Everything seems so soft and smooth on this brace. The opening at the back of the knee is probably the best thing for sizing issues. The DonJoy brace is actually loose at the back of my knee. I know it is sized for a man's proportions so my thigh and calf require a larger size than my knee which leaves me with a gap that allows that seam to rub me raw. I don't know how anyone wearing it against their skin can't feel that stitching but maybe having it compressed against your skin nullifies that issue for other people. I still feel that it is a terrible design and after seeing all the others with the seams off to the sides I was even more disappointed that the DonJoy brace is going to cost me nearly $100 for an obviously flawed design.
The amount of support you get from this brace is controlled by how tight you put it on and the additional straps at the front. I can over tighten them and hurt myself. I plan to discuss the best way to gauge how much tension I need with my PT on Monday. Wondering if they will be as impressed with this one as I am.

I was stumbling around with a knee that's been injured many times over the years -- MCL strain, meniscus damage -- and I finally decided to get a brace to keep it from inadvertently twisting and causing "moderate" pain . This product immediately mitigated the dreaded "click - pain" cycle for me. I'm mad I waited so long to purchase a quality brace. It has just enough compression/stability for puttering around or even golfing. Haven't run in it yet.

Received the brace and seems to be great quality. No rips or tears and does not feel weak anywhere. Compression feels great, but I criss-crossed the smaller straps around the back. I will say the support feels well and brings me some confidence. I am a bigger guy and it fit with some room. Make sure you get the right size and I believe you'll be satisfied!
This Knee Brace Allowed me to ski with my kids for the first time after 30 years!!!
Sonia Sparks✓ Verified Purchase•December 15, 2023
I really like that the knee brace gave me enough support to able me to ski all day, for 3 consecutive days with my kids even if I haven't ski since I torn my ACL more then 30 30 years ago now! Stayed really cautious, but was thrilled to be part of the action.
I found it comfortable to war directly on skin and it stayed in place without readjustment.
I definitely recommend the product.
