A lifesaver. Have saved many hours tracking down broken, boundary wire for my lawn mower. Most of the time when the boundary wire breaks or is cut, it is where the lawn mower is at. Sometimes it the lawn mower might nick the wire one place, not completely cutting through it. Then eventually it breaks at that point, a week, month, etc later. I have spent many days tracking down breaks like this. The boundary wire runs around 1.5 acres, with multiple zones. Total wire length is right at 2,500 feet. With this wire tracer it has tuned what was hours and even days to minutes. I now just connect this tracer to one end of the wire and start walking, following the boundary wire. When the sound stops or starts Is decreasing in volume, I know I'm withing a few feet of the break. Just a little more moving of the receiver fob, I can pin point the break to within a few inches. Start digging around in the grass and the break is found qnd fixed.

Anyone complaining this tracer is does not work, most likely has not read the instructions. For my boundary wire, I must 1) disconnect both ends from the charging station. 2) pull one end far enough from the other end (about 2 feet, so not to have the tracer signal jump to the other end of the wire, given false readings that the wire is continuous. For my use, the boundary wire leaves terminal A, on the charging station, goes around the property and returns the charging station, connecting to terminal B, about one (1) inch away from terminal A. So the two ends of the wire needs to be separated by about two (2) feet for the tracer to work.
Do I recommend this: Yes, just read the instructions. Do not try to be a Mr Know-it-all and not read the instructions. You do not know it all.

Used to trace sprinkler wiring to valve boxes

It took some time to play with the RX and TX settings and learn the tone changes with a known sprinkler valve box and wire path, but was accurate tracing the wiring under 6" of lawn sod. The key was finding the dead spot (no tone) between tone signals which is where the wire with signal you are tracing is buried. Great value just a tricky learning curve and works near as well as much more expensive units the pros use.
Worked well to find perimeter wire breaks.

Used this product to find a break in my dog fence about 600 feet away from start.
It took me 2 tries to really understand how the tones work. After I got used to them I found the break rather quickly and efficiently. Tone absence was within 5 inches of the break itself so accuarcy was very good.
