I have an old $2000 panasonic tv I was given without a remote, and it doesn't have a tuner but it still works great because it was hardly used. So this solved the remote problem and the tuner problem. Set up was easy. Like super easy, anyone can do it.

I concur with the majority of reviewers who've given the unit good ratings. I'd recently terminated my cable TV. I was looking for a device that could scan over-the-air channels and provide a menu display with program information similar to what I'd had with cable. The unit's on-screen menu is limited to a list of channels. There is no program grid or information. However, I was impressed to discover two functions that make the unit more than worth the price. It enables the playback of mp4 files off a USB flash drive. As well, it enables the recording of off-air programs. It's with the USB and record functions that you get nice menu displays. Although I'd noticed the two features in the item description, I didn't think they'd actually easily work. As for OTA channel reception, upon connecting the antenna to it, I was pleased that the unit scanned as many channels as when the antenna previously was connected directly into my TV. One tip: Don't mess with the Picture/Format function. When I clicked on "NTSC," everything went black. I needed an analogue TV to view and restore the device. Also, as encountered by others, I could not get the date function to work. The unit is not perfect. But all in all I'm happy. I'd buy it again.

The Owerslyn 2023 Digital Converter Box restored broadcast functionality to my friend's Roku TV when his IR receiver stopped working. It is intuitive to set up by connecting to an HDMI port, USB port, and RF antenna and positioning the IR receiver's half dome using peel-and-stick.
The remote has a bit of a learning curve as it has many buttons for such a small size, with basic functions (like volume up and down) mixed in with the more advanced functions, making the experience less intuitive and somewhat cumbersome (more so for those with large fingers). The program guide is very detailed, but it only shows one channel at a time, so an at-a-glance comparison of programs for a specific time is not possible.
It is recommended as a feature-rich tuner at a competitive price, with a need for a more intuitive design.

I bought this because my tv mount blocked access to the cable jack on my TV. Picture looks solid, sound is solid, no odd reception problems. I understand the complaints about the IR sensor being potentially easy to break but for the price this thing is tough to beat. I haven't tried the DVR functionality and will update if there are durability issues. For $28.99 this does everything I'd expect though.
