Great bumper

I have been looking to this bumper to protect my rear end. It is connected to towing hitch. It is made of solid rubber.... bad thing is that you cant step on it.
You may need to trim this product to fit on a Toyota 4Runner.

I haven't had to depend on this product yet (thankfully), but I can say that most drivers don't tailgate me nearly as much as they used to. The yellow logo really stands out and most people back off or change lanes. I didn't realize the entire product was made of rubber, but I don't think it will be an issue.
My one gripe is that the piece that goes into your trailer receiver is a little long for a Toyota 4Runner and as a result I can't get the pin into the correct hole on the HitchHammer and the product sticks out a little too far. I plan to trim it up a bit so that I can get the HitchHammer in the proper spot. My fear right now is that if the HitchHammer is too far out that it would fold sideways and break rather than hold it's ground.

SAVED my new Jeep!!!!

I haven't been rear ended in over 30 years. I bought a new $65,000 Wrangler 4xe and immediately put this in the hitch just in case. I wish it could be both a step and protection but it's not a step. During rush hour in the first week of ownership of my new Jeep a school bus rear ended a Ford Escort that a 16 year old girl was driving. She didn't hit her breaks so she hit the rear of my Jeep. I barely felt a thing. Her radiator was on the pavement, front grill pushed in. A mess. My Jeep however, didn't have a single scratch. Even the Hitchhammer was in perfect condition. I put on an extension hitch piece of "7 just to make sure nothing could come close to hitting the rear tire. That would have damaged the rear door significantly. The Hitchhammer is amazing and worth 10x its cost. I love it.
Added protection

Goes on easy. I went with the XL since it's for a pick-up. Read where is stays it can't be used for a step. It says that on the top, but kind of blends in since the writing is black, so I used a touch up paint pin to highlight "Not a step". Came with a pin, but I used a hitch lock to prevent it from being taken off by something that might want it more than me. Bought for added protection in stop & go traffic (bumps) or backing to a structure.
The product is smart but the branding is stupid

Seems like a sturdy product and gives me some peace of mind for other drivers who "park by feel." Does seem like a lot of money for a chunk of rubber. Docked one star for the ugly yellow lettering, and it's glued in so you can't just sand it off and have it be all black. Why would you weaken the first point of impact with cutouts for ugly branding? Why not put the "NOT A STEP" warning in bright yellow letters instead? Unfortunately the world has more marketing people than design engineers, so logic and reason have to suffer.
