Folds up and comes in a carrying case (lightweight, but keeps dirt off other items). You have to be careful to turn the tightening knob enough to keep it tight. I had a hard time getting it tight enough (hubby had better luck) so I had to be careful and use both hands. Worked for our purposes digging out fire pits.
