I mounted this on my kayak, and it holds really well. It's a solid mount and it's as good as the name brands out there. The materials used are very solid and its majority metal. Once you slip it into the track and tighten it down, you're good to go. If your track is solid, this mount shouldn't make your GPS wobble at all. As for mounting the GPS platform, it's all on you on what you want to mount on there with all the available choices in the market. It is a 1" ball so whatever you choose, choose that size. Again, this is well made and will last a very long time.

There are a bunch of "heavy-duty phone mount" and all that marketing nonsense, and boy I tried a lot of them. This one for sure checks the box for heavy-duty: aluminum made! No plastic and all that. This is metal! Installed it in semi-truck, where vibrations and shakes are present all the time and where a regular phone mount would't hold for long. I think this is the one to get, if you want to make sure it wouldn't fall off. Has 2 pivot points that give it a lot of movement and adjustment, you can make it stay in almost any position with no problem. Yes, it's not the most slick and aesthetic phone mount, but it's not made to look slick and aesthetic. It's made to hold the phone (or truck GPS in my case), and does exactly that. And for $20 it's a steal, compared to +$50 mounts that you can buy from truck-stops. Hand down the most sturdy and well built mount that I've used in a semi-truck!
