By-pass function on valve missing.
Amazon Customer•August 24, 2017
Noticed after having received the filter that it has no bypass setting on the valve. Box clearly says 2 way valve On or Off but On Amazon's listing still shows it as a three way valve On/Off/Bypass.
What really upset me was that someone's review back in 2010 mentioned this as well. Makes you wonder if any description is accurate anymore since this one hasn't been updated in at least 7 years.

Omni filter

I called Omni before my purchase to check for the correct size since they did not have the original filter listed. Omni told me this one U25E would fit. But after receiving the filter, I discovered that it does not fit. So I either have to pay a plumber to do the modifications so that the U25E filter will fit in the current location or simply return the filter. This is on Omni not Amazon.
Excellent Filter, Well Designed and Built

This was a replacement for a much older model by same manufacturer. A huge improvement over the older model. Required minor piping mods but well worth it.
This filter cup does not require excessive tightening like it predecessor to prevent leaks. Hand tight does the trick. Others have left review saying it leaks. But after going through two filter changes, I have no leaks. I suspect that changing the o-ring about once a year will be required, but that's usually the case with most o-ring seals, and o-rings are not expensive. I actually had two on hand from my old o-ring kits that were not required on the older model.
In addition, the selector valve has been much improved and much easier to operate. No special tool to turn valve, and it is made so that it can be easily cleaned when hard-water deposits gum up the works. The older model had to be just thrown away when that happened (I went through 3 over the past several years). I also like the fact that the cup is depressurized automatically when the valve is turned to off.
If you're looking for a replacement or a first-time use, I highly recommend this brand and model. You won't be disappointed.

Unless I just happened to get a really horrible defective unit - this product is terrible. leaks from the top where it has the part that turns it on or off (not the places you connect it to the pipe) so there is nothing you can do about it. I had the original U25 before and it was fine, but assuming I could replace it with the U25E was apparently wrong, and I ended up with a similar style Whirlpool unit instead. After getting really really soaked in cold water, a lot, in the middle of winter.
Didn't work for my situation

Bought a house that already had one of these installed with no cartridge installed. Because it was very rust stained and did not know how long it was installed I purchased a new one. After two days the filter cartridge was plugged and my water pressure was way down. When thru three cartridges in just over a week and ended up removing the filter and buying a new high end softener and my rust problem is solved. I am sure this filter works for low rust situations but if you have a lot of rust in your well system you will be changing cartridges every few days and that gets expensive and is a pain.
