You may have to find the best place in the room for this antenna, and it may be a little frustrating to go through the process, but when you do, I'm sure you will be satisfied with the result. I went through the process because there's a jazz station in Chicago that I like, but it's about 60 miles from my house, and it's a college radio station which, of course, may not have the strongest transmitter. Didn't seem to be a problem for this antenna. Okay, I attached it to a 25 ft. coaxial cable so I could walk around the room and find the best reception, but once I found it, the signal came in nice and strong. It also has a little light on the top center of the circle that lets you know either the signal strength and/or whether it's a stereo broadcast or not. Pretty cool, huh? I guess it just depends on whether or not you're willing to do what it takes to receive the station you want to listen to. Oh, and by the way, you won't have to even go through all that for the stations you get normally; they're gonna come right in, crystal clear with no effort on your part, for all you lazy bums! (smile)

I have a Luxman tp117 receiver, which is an audiophile piece. I bought this antenna, because I want to deduct the little "huss" in the background when I listen NYC classic FM channel.

It does improve the signal, and deduct the background huss as I need. I audited the signal and clearity with Sony v6 monitor headphone. But it is not in that abosulte way.

Some tricks I found.

1. it must be powered. so it can not used as a regular antenna.

2. Power level need be adjusted.

3. Most importantly, this antenna is coming with AM cable. You must properly handle this AM cable, or it will influence the FM reception. I put this am cable to the AM connection in my receiver, though I never listen AM.
If you only have one connection(AM FM together in your receiver), I do not know where to put this Am cable.

By the way, I got it $13 from Amazon. I think that so many negetive reviews make it so cheap. so grab one before it is gone.

Ok I read some of the reviews before I made this purchase. I live in an apartment complex, sandwiched between others buildings and there was no radio reception. I love older rock and country stations in my area and the supplied wire antenna with my stereo didn't come to the party. I was have tempted to go with another antenna that cost twice the price, but I was very surprised by this antenna. Some reception not the best, but without it there was nothing. It's amplified and has pretty good reach on the power cords that all need to be plugged in. Plugged mine right into my receiver and had a good six foot reach on the antenna cord. The unit itself is adjustable so you may have to do some adjusting to help bring in that special signal you want. Overall I give this antenna a rating of 5 for quality, workmanship and price. And best of all for hundreds of dollars less it does the job.

Solid job but not phenomenal. I expected all weak signals to be enhanced. At first it did not do any better than the free AM Loop and the FM wire. After being connected for a good length of time it brought in weak FM signals though it is still iffy on AM. In defence I live in a poor reception area. The test will come if I move to an area that needs signal boost but not as severely.

I read several negative reviews on this antenna but saw that the majority were good so I took a chance on it. When I received it and tried it I thought I was going to end up being another negative review. Fortunately, I took a closer look at the pin that connects the FM antenna to my receiver and noticed that it was bent and laying flat along the inside of the plug. When I straightened it out with a pair of needle nose pliers and carefully plugged it in, everything worked great. I highly recommend this antenna but make sure you check the pin.
