This just makes so much sense when camping! We used it last weekend while camping Friday through Sunday. It was so nice not having to walk 1/2 a mile every time we needed to relieve ourselves or walk into the scary dark armadillo infested woods to dig a hole.
To use it...We lined our standard bucket with plastic bags (x 3) and put a scoop of cheap kitty litter ($1 bag from wally world) every time we went to soak it up. It was a little weird to see inside the lid condensate.... and when it was time to go it wasn't exactly fun to be the person who had to clean this up, but whatever. We washed it down, stuck it in a trash bag, and took care of the rest when we got home. That's life and it is sooooo worth having. We plan to use this in future for more camping trips and a music festival.
Should you buy this? Yes!!!
Also consider getting: One of those single person pop-up privacy shelters. A bungee cord that fits thru a roll of toilet paper to hang your TP. Some of the special toilet bags they sell on here. Hand sanitizer to leave in the toilet tent. Cheap kitty litter.
P.S. I posted this review on my own free will. Since I check out the reviews for everything I purchase, I'm a little skeptical when people get stuff free to write a review (maybe I'm just jealous?) I paid full price for this, used it, liked it, and wrote a review. I'm sharing my thoughts and advice willingly for the goodness of others.

I like this bucket lid seat a lot. The only complaint I have is that the rear hinge is too soft for what it is asked to do. If you nudge yourself back a little too far, and fellas, you WILL move back on this seat to have any hope of having clearance in the front end, it will snap the lid off. Due to the excellent flexible plastic nothing breaks. Still annoying though!
Other than that I love it.
It fits extremely tight on almost all buckets I tried it on. Too tight really. However, for those who can't find a bucket to put this on just head over to Tractor Supply Company and grab one of their white food safe buckets. It drops on and off of those to the point that it almost falls off when you open the lid. Once you line the bucket with a trash bag it fits perfect. I use the 50 or 28 pack rose scented pink bags from Dollar Tree. Very economical, and I've never had a single bag with a leak or pinhole. Put a bag in the bucket, pop the lid on and do your duty. At this point remove the lid and tie the bag after squeezing as much air out as possible. Drop the sealed bag in the bottom of the bucket and line the thing with a new bag over top of the used sealed one. Pop the lid back on and it's ready for the next use!
You can do this many times before the "bowl" formed by the bag becomes a bit shallow. At this point simply remove the seat lid and carry the bucket to the nearest trash. Tip all of the sealed tied up bags in and you're good to go.
Easy, little smell, no litter required, and only 2 cents per "flush".
You really can't go wrong!

Great toilet conversion for camping

Works Great! Seat isnt the most comfy but you're sitting on a 5gal bucket. Don't really expect luxury.
What I was impressed with was double seal. No smell comes out at all. Able to be used inside a tent privately.
A bag goes over the bucket to catch waste and the luggable loo seat base snaps over that securely without tearing the bag. That was impressive to me.
The seat lid then opens on hinges like a normal toilet seat. Snaps closed with a slight click. That's a good deal.
Perfect to keep in the corner camping when you don't feel like braving the cold or wild animals to take care of business.
Only unpleasant part is taking the bag out. No avoiding the smell albeit briefly.

Perfect for night time bathroom runs for pregnant women while camping!

My husband and I were taking a weekend trip to an off-road park for an event and would be tent camping. This particular park has 1 bathhouse with 1 toilet, and there would be hundreds of people. Also, I'm currently pregnant, and have to go to the bathroom several times per night. This park offers no privacy for answering the call of nature outside, even at night. I needed something that I could use with in the tent during the night.
This worked great. I used a Lowe's 5 gallon bucket, lined with a standard kitchen trash bag. I put newspaper in the bottom to help absorb, but for the future i will try to find some kind of absorbent pads, maybe pet training pads or something. I also used some Arm&Hammer deodorizer to make sure it didn't start to smell.
The toilet seat is a tight fit on the bucket. It took me several tries to get it on, but once it was on I wasnt worried about it coming off. I never noticed any smell coming from the bucket. I think this was partly due to the deodorizer keeping it down as well as the lid keeping it contained. I know it has some smell because when I went to empty the bucket i could smell it. But it never escaped the bucket.
The bucket did have a bit of a smell after wards. It might go away on its own being aired out, but i will also clean it and try to deodorize it. However, this bucket will now be used strictly for the pee bucket.
I plan on using this bathroom solution in the future any time we are tent camping. It's nice to have in the middle of the night!

When you need to sit down comfortably for a minute or two
Kelli✓ Verified Purchase•September 3, 2017
This Luggable Loo toilet seat fit perfectly on my Lowe's 5 gallon bucket. I know it sounds silly, but bathroom time has always been one of my main concerns while camping. Anyone can squat and pee, but defecating is another issue for me. I need to sit down comfortably for a minute. This made all the difference. I cut a hole in the bottom of my 5 gallon bucket, then situated the whole thing over a narrow, but fairly deep hole. When we left, I shoveled dirt into the hole leaving behind no trace. Also, I purchased the WolfWise Dressing Tent to put around my port-a-potty. This gave me privacy as we were camping with several other couples. Don't miss out on the pleasures of camping just because of potty time.
