This knife is comfortable to hold and easy to use. It slices vegetables almost without effort. Cuts sandwiches with ease. I have not used it on meat but have no doubt that it will work there as well.

Bought this to supplement the Chicago Cutlery Knives we already have. Have had them for 33 years. Was so thrilled to find another chef's knife to match the one we have. My husband & I no longer fight for this knife . . . we have two now.
Very happy with these knives. Also bought a couple of paring knives . . . . unbelievable that they're still around - a match to our 33 year old set! The wood handle on our original is worn and smooth & the blade is worn down some after years of use. The new handle is definitely square and you can feel the edges in your hand. Love this knife . . . . would be lost without it. Use it nearly every day.

Nearly exactly as described. It IS made in China. The wooden handle does have cleanly and precisely finished edges--meaning they are nearly square and uncomfortable. A few swipes with sandpaper fixed that. It was sharp right out of the package. It would slice 18# printer paper with no snags from rough spots the entire length of the blade. It is full tang. It is the proper size with good balance for an 8 inch chef's knife. The blade stock is slightly thiner than my old Chicago Cutlery similar knife, but this one is 6 dollars less in price today compared to when I bought the other knife more than 40 years ago at Pennys. But DO NOT run this through a dishwasher. The high temperature water will ruin the handle and the highly caustic dish washing detergent will eat the metal blade.
