This corkscrew is used often and works great. I suppose I could have given a lower score due to the plastic box being cracked, but I'm not going to open wine with the box. I not only recommend this product I've given this as a gift.

Now that I've had the Metrokane Houdini for more than a couple of years and opened maybe 3 hundred bottles of wine, I can attest to its ease of operation (better than the Bonjour, for instance) and its durability -- there's been no diminution of performance, no sign of wear. And it's truly a great-looking device! You still have to have some arm strength to deal with the plastic corks, but, hey, it's a corkscrew! All the fancier gizmos -- compressed air, electric, and what not -- just don't work or last as well as this type of leverage-handled corkscrew.

Ordered a replacement because our last wine opener lasted 14 years so the quality is incredible.

Disappointed that the case arrived cracked and broken because we've always stored it in the original case.

This was a gift for my brother and his family. I'd seen them struggling with one of those waiter-style corkscrews, and it always ended up being such a big hassle.

This corkscrew however, came in a hard plastic box with all the pieces listed and took the wine opening process from a five minute struggle to a ten second breeze. I think initially the part they were most fascinated with was the foil cutter, which cuts very cleanly and easily. When I tried it, I was surprised how smoothly it cut, I didn't think it had even done anything until I removed it to look at it and the little circle of foil came off with it.

The bottle opener itself also worked exactly as promised, just place it over it, squeeze, lever down, loosen your grip a little, lever back up and the cork is out! Similar process for getting the cork off the screw. Hold it in the air by the handle, push the lever down, then squeeze, then pull the lever back up. In our case the cork fell off so fast it bounced off the counter! (Much to the cats delight.)

I got this for a friend and she loved it. I loved how sleek it looked and how easy it was to use. It's kinda pricey but it's an excellent tool for those who can't grip very well.
