I was a server for many years, and remember opening sometimes close to a dozen wine bottles per night. This is not the tool you want to use for that. It's pretty and well made, but its slimness and uncovered metal edges bite into the palm of the hand, and the angle of the curvature can make you misplace your hand in a way where it can be easily (and painfully) pinched.
If you just need a backup corkscrew, it does the job well enough, it's sturdy, and it looks pretty- just remember to be careful where you grip it!

This wine opener is better quality than I expected. It's really nice stainless steel which means it will last a long time. I got this wine opener for work and wanted something that would last and put up with the constant use. First off this opener is heavy which I can tell this is sturdy and will last. Using the wine opener for the first night at work went well probably opened 2 dozen or more bottles of wine with out any issues. While opening the bottles of wine I first used the small knife that pulls out to cut the foil which worked smoothly. Then screwed into the cork and was able to pull it out smoothly with out having any broken pieces of cork fall into the bottle. The best part of this wine bottle opener is the part that holds onto the bottle while the cork is coming out it's flexible it has a built in spring that makes it bounce back and forth. This is a very nice bottle open that has very detailed craftsman's ship. This wine opener can also be used to open beer bottles and fits nicely in your pocket or apron while working.
Looks very nice! Feels sturdy. This is the kind or corkscrew all waiters and bartenders use!

This is good-looking durable corkscrew with a one inch knife and a bottle-cap opener, too. The handle has rosewood panels on both sides, and and intricate design long the stainless steel edge, just as pretty as the photos in the amazon listing. I used it right away with dinner tonight. It has a sturdy feel to the handle and corkscrew and knife, and is so easy to use, which is why you will see this kind of corkscrew in use by all bartenders and waiters. The knife is very short, about an inch, with a serrated edge, mainly for removing the seal, and the teeth are tough enough to tear through metal foil, plastic, or wax. I think it could help those few times that a metal screwtop wont crack open, too. So it does all that i want. The bottle opener is a standard wide design. It all seems quite good for a $11 corkscrew, but there is nothing extraordinary that would make it five stars.
