Bought it for small breed - Shih Tzu, works good
Miranda✓ Verified Purchase•August 10, 2023
I was debating between the two products, the bigger version says it's for medium to large breed and small is for small to medium breed. I have a shih tzu (small breed, 15lb) and I'm growing his coat long, really was supposed to buy the small size but I went for the large one because I'm not sure the length for the teeth ( I need longer teeth so that when his coat is longer I can still comb through). The quality is very good and there's no static, so far it's working great for my little guy and I'm glad I purchased the bigger one.
Best Dog Comb
Paul Chen✓ Verified Purchase•July 24, 2023
Been showing dogs for almost 60 years. Mostly Pembrokes and Cardigans. Love these combs for my dogs' double coats, combs out the dead hair really well. If you haven't combed out your dog's coat in a long time, the coat will be difficult to comb out and your dog will not appreciate your neglect no matter which comb you use. This comb will make it easier and slightly less painful for your dog than other combs, including Greyhound combs. If you keep up with your dog's grooming, you will love this comb. I don't have Poodles or doodles or drop coats (Maltese, Yorkies, etc...) so I don't know if this comb will work well on those types of dogs.
Works to remove matted clumps on a long-hair cat
LC✓ Verified Purchase•July 14, 2023
My senior-citizen kitty recently developed some matted clumps in the fur along her spine, She has some arthritis and I think she is starting to have some trouble grooming herself. I thought about trying to cut the clumps out of her fur, but I was afraid I would cut her skin. After reading about this comb and another one on a cat forum, I decided to give it a try - I figured if it didn't work, I would ask the vet to shave her on our next visit. Once the combs arrived, I alternated back and forth between the two of them, working a little bit at a time, over a few days. It was slow going, but eventually it worked. I'm very pleased! I will post this review under the other comb as well. Probably someone looking to save money could get by with purchasing just one or the other - they both work well.
Better for my beard than my dog
Erica Banz✓ Verified Purchase•June 20, 2023
Bought it for my labradoodle, but her hair was too coarse for it, that's the only reason for losing a star.... Works amazing for my beard tho! Glides through nice and feels good on my face.
Two sizes for different types of fur
Heidi C✓ Verified Purchase•June 10, 2023
The attached photo shows the comparative size difference in the two combs. Both are excellent, and I use both when grooming my two small (18 lb.) dogs. I think the size to choose depends more on the dog's fur than his overall size. One of my dogs has very thick, wavy hair, and I need the larger comb for him. My other dog has fine, silky hair and the small comb is best suited for her. The small comb is also best for both dog's faces because of its maneuverability. (The wider spacing on the small comb is the same as the fine spacing on the large comb.) I have found both combs to be very sturdy, able to pull through tough mats without bending, while also gentle to sensitive skin. The small comb came with a loop attached to one end, but I cut it off because it was in the way.
