First Galaxy Radio
Amazon Customer✓ Verified Purchase•October 11, 2017
This was my first Galaxy radio, and man am I impressed. I chose this radio over the 959 due to the comparable size to the Cobra 29. The StarLite display is much better than Cobra's Nighwatch, and I think the black faceplate is easier to look at than the gray.
Did not take long for this radio to come in. Factory box was placed in a box twice the size, with no padding. I was a little concerned on how the radio was packaged to ship, but nothing was damaged. After installing the radio into my Dodge Charger, I was pleased with the ease of use. The radio lights up well at night, and has easy to adjust knobs. The talk-back in high is not too overbearing, however the talk-back on low is just as close to off.
I replaced the coffin style mic with a RoadKing, and have the radio mated to a Wilson Lil Wil. Each time I keyed the mic, someone has responded. Almost all transmissions are audible. If I can convince the wife I need one in the other car, I may be a repeat customer.

My son loves it. He tries using it indoors but we haven't found the right antenna for it yet.

UPDATE 1:
So I end up sending this radio back to a repair shop for receive problems. This radio was not brand new as advertised and sold! This radio had been "peaked and tuned" by some backyard radio tech and with all the damage caused by installing the wrong value diodes and removal of critical diodes this radio has been rendered "Trash"!
I sent the radio back to the vender I purchased it from and it was refused delivery!
This entire transaction has been fraud from the beginning! Absolutely no help from Amazon A-Z guarantee! I am now seeking legal recourse.
Well where to start...First hooked up and checked swr 1:1-1, zero impedance ground, 102" whip. Attempt to transmit and nothing but severe feedback with the TalkBack feature off. Attempted to return and nothing but guff so I sent to a CB repair shop and $30 later, transmit without feedback. 3 weeks later, the starlite faceplate went out as well as all recurve. I get 2 receive "modes" now...Either dead needle or +40 static white noise, depending on the bump in the road I hit. Sent it off again and now will cost as much as a brand new one to repair. So...I am now the proud owner of a $189.00 Galaxy DX 929 paperweight!!! Oh...And when Galaxy finally got around to answering my emails, they voided the warranty because I had an "outside" repair shop fix the feedback problem only because Galaxy took over a month to respond.
So after being a loyal long term customer...Galaxy...You are fired!

Galaxy DX 929 vs Cobra LX peaked and tuned.
Thomas Marquez✓ Verified Purchase•March 1, 2017
This radio will out perform a Cobra 29 peaked and tuned! The Galaxy DX 929 is a great radio. With it's Mosfet final listeners say that my Galaxy DX 929 sounds stronger then my Cobra 29 lx peaked and tuned right out of the box! 10 stars out of 5 for me!
