Works!
HBLAugust 19, 2017
I have a Sanyo TV and wanted to put a sound bar on it. Before purchasing one decided to look at the back of the TV to make sure it had either an optical connection or HDMI ARC. Was surprised that even though the TV was still fairly new it had neither, although it did have an orange optical audio out plug.

Purchased this and a coaxial cable and installed on the TV. Plugged the sound bar into the optical out slot and it worked perfectly.

I wish these manufacturers would decide on a single audio protocol, though. Will not purchase another TV, Sanyo or otherwise, that doesn't have a built-in Toslink or HDMI ARC.
Perferct solution

This worked great and was easy to connect. I used it to link a basic RCA 48" LCD TV with a digital video (coaxial) out port to a Yamaha 1060 sound bar optical in port and it was a fast process. You do need an electrical outlet for the device. I only had two available but an extention solved that problem. If you have a TV that doesn't have an optical digital port but does have a coaxial digital port, this is your link answer. Very handy! Also, super fast shipping.
Nice Digital Audio Coaxial to TOS optical Converter
Odin7June 13, 2017
My audio setup needed an optical TOS link input, but my newly purchased receiver/DVR had only a coaxial audio digital output (I am not using that cursed HDMI). This device made the conversion perfectly. Now my 5.1 surround receiver is providing nice quality surround sound audio from the over the air TV channels that I am watching. The heck with Cable Inc and HDMI.
A Solution to Mismatched Audio Connections
Pavanas IncususJune 1, 2017
This product is the solution for a DVD/Blu-ray player with a coaxial output and a Home Theatre, or A/V with a fibre optic input. With all units turned off. Installation is simple, plug the coaxial cable into the output of the DVD/Blu-ray, plug the other end of the cable into the input of the C2G 40018, then remove protective caps on the ends of the fibre optic cable. Plug the fibre optic cable into the output of the C2G 40018 (observe the orientation of the plug/connector), then plug the other end of the fibre optic cable into the Home Theatre, or A/V, (again observe the orientation of the plug/connector). Plug the power adapter into the unit, then plug adapter into outlet. Turn on DVD/Blur-ay, Home Theatre, or A/V. Then set Home Theatre, or A/V to Digital In, done.
Sonos Playbar

Got a Sonos playbar without fully realizing that its only available input was Fiber Optics. My TV is less than two years old, but its only digital audio output was Coaxial. This gizmo is exactly what I needed. It works. No set-up / easy plug-and-play. Couldn't really find helpful advice on Sonos FAQ, but thank goodness I found this on Amazon. Terrific sound quality - No sound quality lost from using this super little adapter.
