I only wish that it was a bit more adjustable so that you don't stare at a naked light bulb. It is adjustable as far as the closeness of the light source to the painting/art but the head (cover) is not adjustable and will not bend easily. I ended up placing it at the bottom of the painting so it serves as up lighting instead of down lighting.

Westinghouse lighting corp 75053 14-inch picture light fixture is a worthy light fixture worth every dime that it costs. It is pretty hard to get excited about something as basic as a light fixture but if you have chronicled a horror story inspired by a light fixture then you can't help it but appreciate a light fixture such as this one that works as advertised and is also very good to look at. The fixture goes for $33.99. This is an incredibly fair price considering the fact that the fixture works as expected. The value derived automatically supersedes the price and you will realize the value for your money sooner than later. I believe I would buy this same light fixture if the need for the same ever arose. Installation is easy and you should be done in no time. The only requirement is that you follow the instructions. There is nothing hard about this process and you shouldn't be frustrated because you can't seem to install it right. You should also have all the required installation hardware in place for convenience. The picture light fixture has an 8 inch white cord with an inbuilt on/off switch. This one is convenient when you sit near the white cord. Although this is convenient, I find it to be an eye sore at times because the white cord doesn't compliment the décor and the walls but I think that I can live with this minor con because the fixture works as intended. I wish they had increased a bit of the frost since the bulb is extremely bright. I will soon be forced to purchase a bulb with low watts because my eyes can't stand the brightness. The good thing is that I have fixed the light fixture at a corner in my living room and the light only bothers me when I turn my focus to that corner. It makes your portraits stand out and this is the only reason I still have this light fixture installed. I believe this is the main purpose of this light fixture and I wouldn't recommend it as the primary light fixture mainly because of the poor finish. Another bad thing is that the light fixture is also not adjustable. I wish it would turn so that the bulbs would be obscured. But in all fairness all my disadvantages aren't serious enough to make one shy away from this light fixture. I believe they are disadvantages that one can learn to live with. Highly recommended!!!

I like the light- it feels sturdy, the look is what i was going for, but for it being described as brass- it is almost a brushed nickel. This picture is held up in front of my stainless steel refrigerator and it is a bit browner but certainly not a "gold" brass.

Wow, to show you how old school picture lights are these days, when I asked about incandescent picture lights at the home improvement store one clerk just gave me a blank look and an older gent laughed and said he hadn't seen one in years. However there is no shortage of listings here for LED lights, some of which are in the 200 dollar range with some going for as much as 600 bucks. This is the kind of thing that you used to be able to find anywhere for about the price of a hamburger.

My goal was to use it to illuminate an original oil painting and provide some ambience lighting above my bed. No matter what brand of LED lights I've looked at they all have a garish blue white light that would make my bedroom look like a used car lot. And LED lights don't dim very well, so I wanted one that used standard tubular incandescent light bulbs. They are almost impossible to find.

This one has a design that hasn't changed since my grandmother's day, only it is much more expensive. My painting is 36 inches square so two 15 watt light bulbs are a necessity, which this one has. And there are numerous choices available to me for bulbs, unlike a LED fixture which had the bulb permanently wired in.

To clear up a couple of things I read that aren't really accurate, one is about adjustability. To be clear this fixture is adjustable enough to be able to shine the light down at the surface of the painting so it doesn't glare in my eyes. In other words it does what it's designed to do. The other thing is about short bulb life "“ there is nothing about a light fixture, this one or any other one, that can shorten the life of a light bulb. If someone is experiencing short life from their bulbs they should look at another cause, like the brand of bulbs they are buying or faults in their home electrical wiring. If a dimmer is used, as I am doing, bulb life shouldn't be a concern.

This fixture is adequately constructed and looks okay, it's not going to win an prizes on either one of those. You can mount it to the wall behind a picture or directly to the back of most wooden picture frames, which is what I did. The cord is long enough if your picture happens to hang directly over an electrical outlet, otherwise you might need an extension cord. The inline power switch is closer to the plug than the fixture. Overall it lights up my entire painting fairly evenly and doesn't glare too much.

This is a fantastic picture light! I bought the 7" version first, and was sold on it for its price and functionality. I bought this 14" version for a much larger piece of artwork in the living room, and it works great. In fact, I've plugged them into a remote-controlled lighting switch along with the other lamps in the living room, and turning them on/off is such a pleasure...especially since the on/off switches are hidden behind pieces of furniture. For me, this fixture throws off the right amount of light and illuminates a large-scale photograph that was otherwise in complete darkness and indiscernible in the evenings, even when other ambient light was available. Now that the light is trained on it, the artwork and that entire wall is swept with light and pops. I actually prefer a variety of smaller-scaled lights and lamps to illuminate a space rather than large overhead or torchiere type lamps...I just find it creates a more intimate and welcoming space. This does the job beautifully, and I will be buying more of these for artwork in other parts of the house.
