I used the alternative mounting bracket (not pictured in this listing) to mount this lamp upside down to the bottom of a cabinet door. I drilled a hole in the front of the bracket and inserted a black screw with a wide, washer-like head, then looped the gooseneck up and tied it off with a strong black wire twist tie. I use the fixture to illuminate my cutting board work area since my toaster oven blocks light from the undercabinet fixture. Plus this little one works great in the wee hours when I don't want the whole room brightly lit.

These little lights work great on smaller pictures. I think they are excellent for the money. My batteries seem to be holding up very well in them too. (I'm using the Amazon triple-As. I bought a box of a 100 and it came out to about 20 cents each.) Takes three of them. There are a choice of two levels of light selected by the button on one end of the light, a bright setting and a setting about half that. both look good on the smaller oils I put them on. The lights come with both a clamp attachment and a flat attachment designed to go behind the frame, either to be attached to the wall or the frame. There is a clever notch designed into the flat attachment that allows the light to rest perfectly directly on top of the frames I've got them on. The light itself can be screwed in and out of either of these two alternative attachment options. I'm using the flat attachment, which allows me to simply slip the flat mounting piece behind the already hanging frames, and presto, my beautiful smaller pictures finally can be seen. I don't know if I will ever get around to actually attaching them to the frames they are working so as is. The light quality itself is just right to my eyes, white but not glaringly so and not a bluish white, and renders the colors of the pictures excellently. I generally run mine on the medium setting. The light bar is on a gooseneck type extension about six inches long that can be bent up, down and somewhat sideways, and, the cover on the light bar itself can be rotated 25 degrees or so, so, you have quite a bit of adjustment capability in positioning the light over the picture. I'm really pleased with these lights. I ordered four more after my first order of three. They look great on my small paintings framed in traditional gold frames, most of them plein air style. I wouldn't recommend them for larger pictures but the work perfect on smaller ones.

I read the reviews and although they weren't as good as I would have liked, I ordered 2 of them anyway and had free shipping, so why not try them?
They arrived yesterday and, as I'm having company tomorrow, I put the batteries in and clipped them on two of my best 'masterpieces' immediately!
I'm just thrilled! They are perfect! It just doesn't get any easier than that - insert batteries and clip on! I love the swivel head, the three way setting (on, dim, off) and it lights up enough for me. Plus, I like the versatility of being able to take it off and using it somewhere else if I ever choose to - headboard for reading, car visor, laptop, whatever.
These are really fantastic and as soon as I can, I'm ordering several more.
Only one way to improve upon it, in my opinion, and that would be to make a larger one available as an order option to cover more space on a picture. Other than that, I'm pleased as punch!

I am so glad I chose this $8.99 light and didn't pay $40 to $70 for any other picture light. This light is so versatile. It can be mounted to the wall, or the picture itself. Surprise! It also comes with Clips which allow you to clamp it to the picture frame (no tools needed). The lamp can be tilted both ways as well as the neck. The lamp has a bright and medium hue with an easy push button on/off switch. It has a nice satin finish and looked great on the 24 x 30 Portrait I bought it for. I was amazed at the value. Takes 3 AAA Batteries, but they are not included. No matter. I highly recommend this light. This is what I will use from now on. At this price I'm getting 2 more.

At first I was thrilled to place this new light on my bed headboard. It did not take long to find out what a nuisance the light can be with its idiosyncrasies. No matter who securely tightens the light, it is inevitably going to wobble to one side or the other, making the bed headboard look messy. The brightness of the light is great for eliminating hanging pictures and reading for a few days, then the light is dim. Unless recharchable batteries are used, it costs a small fortune to operate in batteries.
