Great Little Grill
JMDecember 14, 2017
This is a great little grill!! It wasn't that hard to put together, but most importantly, it cooks like a dream! I've had it for about six weeks now and have cooked on it at least once a week since I received it. I didn't need a big grill, but this little guy has enough cooking space to cook several steaks or a half dozen hamburgers at once, with room to spare. In fact, I love to cook chicken halves on it. Chicken (with the skin on) can be hard to cook, but if you close the dampers most of the way you will have no flare ups at all. And the chicken is delicious! I put enough charcoal on the grate to fully cover it and then add a little bit more. If you're cooking steaks, let the coals get ready, spread them out, open the dampers all the way and go for it! You want to cook steaks hot and fast anyway. If a small grill is all you need, I highly recommend this one. The cast iron grates are wonderful and should last a long time. I do recommend you season them according to the instructions before you use them the first time. The only thing I did different was season them in the oven vs. doing it on the grill. Hope this is helpful to you!
Worth Its Weight
JKSeptember 12, 2017
I looked for months before deciding on this grill I have a large home and a large patio, but I'm not planning to grill that much, and when I do it'll probably be for one or two. I had one of the Weber-shaped grills before and the thing just rusted away here in this Gulf Coast climate. And yes, it was in my garage. I wanted this style and a heavy grill, so when I saw this small one I bought it. It's not difficult to put together as these things go, requiring only a pliers and a 7/16" socket or wrench. Someone gave some thought to assembly, as all the bolts use the same nuts. Directions are excellent for assembly. Only difficulty with assembly is the weight, but probably for someone younger than me it'd be fine. Seasoning was easy. I also like the cast iron grates. Basically, it's a good choice for its price. It's not thin bent metal like others in its price range. I'm hoping a little WD-40 sprayed periodically on the outside will keep the finish looking decent. I also like the way that one can do directional smoking, not possible with so many of these small grills.
A lot of work but worth it...

This grill is the best I've owned. It takes a lot of work to get the cast iron grates seasoned and the outside/ inside seasoned but man! This baby is just about weather resistant now. It's withstood few good rains not one speck of rust after following directions on the glaze with oil and heat up for few hours. ( I kinda went over kill on the seasoning) however! This thing has one protective layer! The slide out tray is awesome for continuing to stoke your coals and even add a little bit of wood chips if you wanted to get that great BBQ flavor it will fit one Gerber regular size chimney full of charcoal. And withstands some serious heat. Even used lump charcoal in it. Things grill up nicely and it's easy to withstand the heat :)
Nice little grill for the money

I have the larger version of this and wanted a small version for the back deck. This fits the bill.

Cons..
Cannot adjust coal height. You cook with what you have.
The vents are either too loose or too tight. Not a show stopper.
Wish it had a top vent like the large versions have.
*None of these would keep me from buying it again.
Nice Compact Grill

I was surprised to find a grill like this for the price it was listed at. This is strictly a charcoal only grill, and that makes me happy because gas grills make me nervous. The size is perfect for me and my girlfriend since its just the two of us and I never usually end up grilling for more than 5 people or so, give or take. Assembly was fairly easy, just follow the directions it comes with and you'll be fine, thought when you're attaching the main compartment to the legs you will want an extra pair of hands to hold it still while you bolt it down. After grilling on it quite a few times now, we have really enjoyed it.
