but the quality isn't very good. the mouthpiece was bent when I pulled it ...
Bob WattsJuly 20, 2017
It works, but the quality isn't very good. the mouthpiece was bent when I pulled it out of the package, the prongs at the end are at two different angles instead of in line with each other, and within a couple days of use at church camp the mouth piece fell off. I bent the prongs in line with each other and the mouthpiece slides back on, just have to be careful not to lose it. But it does work well for what it was intended for. Hopefully they will improve their quality in the future.
One of the VERY BEST camping accessories you will ever buy.
Claude M. PettisJune 6, 2017
This thing is AWESOME! I had no idea this product would be so useful. First it is much more lightweight than I ever imagined but strong. Easily moves any size log. Perfect length. You have control but are not right on top of the fire and inundated by smoke. The claw is angled perfectly and a single charcoal briquette fits perfectly into it. Genius! That was some good design work right there. The best feature is the blow tube. When I first read about this I though it was a gimmick. I figured it would take a titanic lung bursting blow to make any difference to the actual fire. Not true. A regular gulp or air and puff down the tuber really accelerates the fire. Place the claw right into the coals where you want to increase the fire volume and just blow. Fantastic results. Big increase in oxygen to the fire and immediate increase in fire intensity. I have camped A LOT. My favorite activity. I will never do so again without one of these. So good i will even consider strapping it to my pack when I go backpacking. I cannot recommend this item enough.
We really like it this is our second one

We really like it this is our second one, the original came from Plow & Hearth and lasted years, please understand this is an outdoor fire pit we put in when a hurricane took down our elm. We turned the area into a piazza and now use it for entertaining. The forked prongs make it easier to poke the wood around or spread the fire for cooking. the top end has a blow hole to help you with getting the fire going, plus it looks good. It eventually rusted out, but I solved that problem by going to Amazon.
Poor quality for such a simple thing
Amazon CustomerApril 19, 2016
This product came with a defect. The weld that connects the mouthpiece to the shaft is incomplete. The mouthpiece is off center so air comes out where the weld is missing. The hole at the bottom of this tool is very small so the amount of air you can get to the fire is minimal. This is suited for small fireplaces or small outdoor fire pits because of its length and the amount of air you can supply to the fire.
The construction is great and it really works
Erin B PrachylApril 17, 2016
This is really a unique tool. I purchased it as a gift for a friend that seems to have everything. The construction is great and it really works. The mouth piece, to me, is reminiscent of a mouth piece that you find on a musical instrument. All you do is blow directly into the fire, and it stokes the fire incredibly well. Certainly a fun and entertaining thing to do while sitting around a campfire or back porch fireplace fire. My only critique is I wish the tool was a bit longer for safety reasons. You have to get kind of close to the fire itself to blow directly into the fire to get it stoked. I certainly would not let children use this tool..even with supervision. But other than that, it is fun and certainly a conversation piece.
