Great baffle, but only for larger feeders!

This is a great squirrel baffle. I installed it three weeks ago and it appears to be effective at deterring squirrels. It is very sturdy and easy to mount on the pole. Because the baffle is one formed piece, there are no lids which can be lost or that squirrels can outsmart. It works best with a larger feeder that has a bottom that is GREATER THAN 6" diameter though. With a smaller feeder, the top of the baffle gets soiled with bird droppings and creates an unsightly mess!
Amazing how well it works.

I mounted this about 5 feet up a pole. The squirrels have not found a way around it. They start up the pole, go about half way up, and give up. They have spent a lot of time trying to figure another way up to the bird feeders, so far, no go. It is not difficult to put on a pole. I have a 2 part shepherds hook pole. I slid the baffle up the "upper" pole, then slid up the mounting bracket and tightened the screws, the baffle slides down over the mounting bracket, resting on the top of it (the bracket). It sways in the wind a little, and the birds try to land on it (slippery and angled) without success.
I think you'll love it. The diameter at the bottom is 6" ...

A couple of months ago, I mounted the Audubon Torpedo to my pole type bird feeder. It has been the only thing that has been effective in keeping the squirrels off the feeder. The birdseed lasts much longer than before and this item is paying for itself that way. I had to move a raised birdbath farther away to keep the squirrels from jumping above it, but it has been completely squirrel proof since then. As long as they can't jump from a nearby tree onto your feeder, I think you'll love it. The diameter at the bottom is 6" so the squirrels can't get a grip and climb it. I have a welded cross shaped pole with a hook on both sides, and a feeder on top. I have a separate older cone shaped baffle that I left on, though it's redundant now. The squirrels could get on my lower hanging feeder, but they found that it's not worth their while. They prefer to eat seed off the ground that the birds themselves spill. Anyway, it's a huge improvement versus without it. I had to take the pole apart near the bottom for it to go on, but it was worth the effort. Comes with hardware. You'll need a screwdriver and a socket tool or wrench to hold the nuts. I put the screws on in opposing directions. I'd recommend mounting it as high as possible on the pole, just below the feeder.
The Torpedo Baffle with be the last baffle you will ever buy

i've had this product up now for several months with a very large Aspects Bazooka tube feeder. I get hundreds of grackles and other larger birds coming out of the swamp. My back yard is the Loxahatchee Wildlife Preserve"¦ the critters are attracted by all the commotion with grackles fighting over the seed. With the large wading birds (heron and Sandhill Cranes) I also get a very goodly number of squirrels because grackles are messy eaters and leave lots of seed on the ground. Bottom line the design of the torpedo baffle is absolutely full-proof! It costs more than I would like but you buy it once, and you just don't worry about the squirrel problem any more. In fact it discourages every small furry varmint there is. I have lots of fun watching squirrels climb up the pole, go inside the opening on the bottom"¦ and come back down frustrated because it leads them nowhere. And they can't get around it either"”too wide. As well, I've tried the cone shaped baffles"¦ no good. Squirrels are Olympic gymnasts and simply jump up and carom off the baffle onto the plate and feeder. If you have a squirrel problem, get a torpedo baffle. Axle grease also works but it's a mess.

Perfect solution. Love watching the squirrels attempting to evade the new barrier. They climb up the slick metal conduit pole like a tree branch, then go inside the torpedo, turn around upside down, try to grab it's slick surface, but the moving bottom end freaks them out (pivots on the mounting clamp in the cone area). Our bird feeder is mounted at about 7 ft above the ground on a 1" dia EMT conduit. The Supplied pole clamp fit just right, after removing the two small screw spacers (needed for smaller dia poles). So far I'm impressed. Now bird feed lasts almost a week, where before it was only 2-3 days between refills.
