Lux TX9000TS Touch Screen...
Roger CDecember 4, 2015
I use this thermostat to control the gas log set in my fire place. I had a remote control thermostat that I had used for a number of years. However it was not very accurate in keeping the temperature on the temperature that I had set it at. This thermostat is far superior to the remote control. The temperature is always at the desired setting. I really like the touchscreen. Easy to set and to change.
Locking programmable thermostat. Oh yeah!

locking feature works great but anyone with time to spare can simply scroll through 1000 numbers to find the unlock code, despite this, the product works as expected but I found the programming a little clumsy to use. Couldn't afford a wifi thermostat and not sure I really need that feature since we're always home.

I wanted a locking thermostat because my kids would walk around half naked all winter and complain about the house being cold. The temperature would mysteriously go up to 78 degrees after they took their showers and I didn't always remember to check the settings at night so I got this locking thermostat to stop my the "climate change" deniers in my house.
Best Thermostat I ever used.

I am giving this a 5 star rating because after using it for a month I have no complaints about it at all. I installed it on December31 2013, the day it was delivered because my old thermostat was off by 3 degrees. Installation was pretty straight forward as long as you refer to the wiring diagrams in the booklet and know what type of heating system you have. If you take the time to read the booklet then setup is very simple, I have it programed to set at 67 at 10pm then it goes to 68 at 5am, then to 69 at 6am when the wife gets up, you can set it to 4 different temps in a 24 hour period, and can do this for individual days or use the copy function. If using copy as I did you set the temps on Monday and then scroll through the rest of the week hitting copy for that day and then your done. You can easily override this by touching the temp and then adjusting up or down and it will remain there until it's next scheduled temp change to whatever you have it programed to. I love the backlight which is something my old thermostat did not have, the button is large and easy to find in the dark and the backlight is bright enough to read the display easily. One reviewer commented on the large temp display and how he could read it from 10' away, well he was right, my eyesight is not what it used to be but I have no trouble reading this at a distance. Now as far as reliability goes the jury is still out because I have only had it for a month but I will say it is accurate, like I said my old one was 3 degrees off and the wife checked the Lux against two different thermometers and it was dead nuts on. I have yet to find anything I dislike about it and would recommend it highly.
So much better than a standard thermostat

If you are someone who finds yourself forgetting to turn off or down the heat when you leave or go to bed, therefore wasting money on oil or gas, then I highly recommend investing in a programmable thermostat. That is why I decided to purchase this product...after constantly forgetting to turn off the heat at night or when I leave and being frustrated in the morning because I know it's a waste of money. I decided on this LUX Thermostat due to the high number of positive reviews and I also didnt find it necessary to purchase an extremely expensive product. I LOVE this thermostat and I wish I would have purchased 2 during the lightening deal I found on Amazon.

First, it was super easy to install. I just shut off the power in the room I was installing, removed the old thermostat from the wall and wires, connected the wires to the new thermostat per the instructions (very easy to understand), drilled the backing into the wall, snapped the front panel on...power back on and voila. All I had to do at that point is program it. It allows you to set a morning, day, evening, and night setting for each day of the week. You set the time and temperature for each setting, for instance I have mine set for the heat to turn down to 60 degrees at 9:30 (so the heat just turns off and stays off unless the room gets colder than 60 degrees) and then for the heat to turn on to get back up to 68 degrees at 7:30 in the morning. I set mine for a lower temperature during the day when Im not around and then to turn back up to 68 degrees at 6 pm. You also have the ability to override the programmed settings and change the temperature at any point and it will stay however you put it until the next time setting.

This has been a very convenient product to have. I dont have to worry about forgetting to turn the heat off and wasting money. It is also much more attractive than a standard thermostat as well. All in all, this is a great choice for a programmable thermostat and well worth the investment.
Installation was easy.

I had never replaced a thermostat before, so I was a bit apprehensive when the lady of the house request I replace the old thermostat.

I followed the instructions which were unexpectedly easy to follow, they included multiple wiring diagrams which included the way my old thermostat was wired. It made this very easy to mount, and wire.

Touch screen and display size is very nice.

When programming the thermostat, remember that the "Next" button moves to the other setting without saving your adjustment. The "Yes" button saves your change and moves to the next setting. The only thing I didn't really like was the copy function during programming ... I think it just copies to the current day what you have on the previous day. I wish there was a copy; paste function as the wife and I get a work from home day every week and it would be nice to COPY tuesday's settings, and PASTE onto Thursday.

Furnance Filter reminder; hours of operation (current/yesterday/total) function is nice if you want to see how long your furnace runs a day.

I recommend this product.
