Works, but makes a mess
Robert W. Meador•August 26, 2017
Bought to replace Lyman tumbler I had for years that finally wore out. This one is smaller and the lid is slotted allowing media dust to go everywhere. I guess the lid is supposed to separate the brass from the media, but all I got was a mess all over my bench. It does work and polished the empties well. I wish I have my old one back.Maybe I can find the lid.
Cleans brass cases well.

As far as affordable vibrating tumblers go, this one works great for cleaning brass cases. With crushed walnut media, you get a lot of dust. Walnut media cleans well but the brass doesn't come out shiny. There's almost no dust with crushed corn cob media and it cleans well too and the brass comes out shiny. If you want it polished, add some polish. The cases come out clean using either dry media. If you remove primers prior to cleaning, the primer holes won't be as clean as using wet media with steel pins and little pieces of the dry media get stuck in the primer pocket and flash holes. They are easily removed with a small pin punch or compressed air.
They told me the bowl was bad and said they would replace it

I purchased this unit almost 3 months ago. When on, and cleaning the brass, ALL the media goes to one side. I made a total of 3 calls to Lyman concerning this. They told me the bowl was bad and said they would replace it. Additionally I sent several emails to them with photos and a short video to document what I was telling them. To date they have basically ignored me. The problem is not fixed and Lyman has not followed up on their claim that the bowl is bad and they would replace it.
I was worried that the quality would not be the same but it seems to be just as good as the original

I bought this to replace a turbo 600 that I have been using for 20 years but the motor finally locked up. I was worried that the quality would not be the same but it seems to be just as good as the original. It is a bit lighter and I dont know if it will last 20 years but it is quieter and seems to clean faster, but that may be because I have slowly gotten use to the old one slowing down and getting louder. If it lasts half as long though my kids will have to worry about replacement.

I love this product. I was blown away at the results of my brass, when the price of the unit is very competitive. It took about 1.5 - 2 hours of tumbling but it was worth it. It does appear to tumble toward one side but it finally found a resting place on one of my bench's legs and hasn't moved since. It sucks that there is no on and off switch on the assembly, only a power cord. So I have to reach behind the table to pull out the cord from my mounted power strip. Almost non audible. Had it running in the garage while I was in the kitchen (one door between the two) and I could barely, barely hear. I actually had to listen for it. Left brass was fired and cleaned, middle brass was fired and not cleaned, right was a new round fesh out of a manufacturer's box! The picture doesn't lie! You need this in your life.
