This is a light and convenient vacuum cleaner. Although it has multiple settings for floors and floor coverings, the unit is most effective on bare floors and carpets with very little or no pile. Medium pile wall-to-wall carpeting seems to tax the motor. This machine is effective in picking up tenacious pet hair from floors and low pile carpets.
Very good, but some gotchas to consider

Quiet, lots of suction, much smaller than I thought it would be (see below), seems to filter well. All very sturdy - the hose attachments and swivel, the hose material itself, the quality of the tubing and the latches, all excellent as you would expect from a Miele. The power button is on the canister, which is not as convenient, but I knew that going in so not detracting points for that.
The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that the heads are not as flexible as on other cleaners that are much cheaper (I'd do 4.5 stars if I could, as 1 star off is a bit harsh - but hey this is an expensive product). Getting under beds and couches, into narrow corners - they don't articulate much for lying down flat or getting into tight spaces. The small (~5" wide) head also is at such an angle where it forces the tube to be at a pretty steep angle, and in some situations it just doesn't allow a good vacuum connection with the surface you're cleaning.
I went back and forth between this and the next size up, which wasn't that much more money, but decided on the smaller one as we have a couple of flights of stairs and I thought the bigger one would be more awkward, and also be harder to use to clean the stairs themselves. I was really surprised when I got the box how compact this really is. I'd compared the dimensions to our previous compact Dirt Devil and thought it was going to be a fair bit bigger, but they are virtually the same size. So it's nice and easy to move around, and light to carry.
The downside is that the bag is really small. We mostly have bare wood floors, but we do have some carpet, and one new area rug in particular, and the bag fills up in just 1 or 2 runs. The bags are pretty expensive, and the other thing about them is they have a permanently attached, quite large plastic bracket, which is bad from a recycling standpoint.
On the plus side, the air-powered (not electrically driven) beater head is very effective, much more so than on the Dirt Devil, which easily got bogged down. We have a dog who's short-haired but does shed, and this picks up his hair very well.
All in all, happy with Miele, but may upgrade to the bigger one (which also has an electric beater, and power controls on the hose handle)

... 2 story town home and this vacuum is absolutely PERFECT for us
B. Daniels•September 20, 2017
We live in an 1100 square foot 2 story town home and this vacuum is absolutely PERFECT for us. We have hardwood floors and tile throughout most of our home with carpet on the stairs and upstairs hallway. The hard wood floor attachment is absolutely perfect for cleaning up debris and dust off the floors, I can pretty much make our broom an outdoor tool only now. The turbo head does an absolutely fantastic job on our low pile carpet and is maneuverable enough on the stairs to vacuum the stairs. The vacuum is quiet, super light weight and portable and has just the right amount of attachments for our needs and incredible suction power. This is our 2nd Miele vacuum, we had the upright Salsa before this and it was just too heavy and big to use in our town-home. I would highly recommend the C1 Turbo Team to anyone in a similar sized home as us, and of course Miele is just unmatched. I don't care where this thing is made, its still a Miele and they make amazing products.
Excellent vacuum at reasonable price!

I was initially surprised at just HOW compact this Miele unit is -- about half the size of the Eureka Excalibur 12 amp canister model it replaced.
So I was surprised when this unit outperformed the much larger, much heavier, much noisier, more powerful Eureka. Got more dirt and tracked cat litter in an area that had just been vacuumed by the Eureka. The smaller size and lighter weight makes it much easier to carry around and use, especially in tight spaces. The floor attachment rotates to only being about 2 inches high, so it's easy to get under furniture like couches and beds.
Does a great job of eliminating shedded cat hair and nails as well.
I see some users complaining that this unit didn't do as well as they had expected with deep pile carpet and large amounts of dog hair. Breaking News: Miele has other models specifically for that purpose, and yes they cost more. This unit is a great all-around vacuum for most normal household dirt. If you have commercial levels of dirt or use or have dogs with long hair, then get a unit designed for those applications!

Hard floors, great. Carpet with pet hair, pretty poor.

This vacuum is light and quiet and does a great job on our hardwoods and tile. It's NOT very good at all on our carpets and really struggles to pick up dog hair, which is frustrating. I've used it a few times and been disappointed each time on the carpets. Most of our house is Flor carpet tiles, so they are very low pile and our Bissell upright cleans them fairly easily. This does not. Did I get the wrong model? The description says its "ideal" for low to medium pile carpets. That is far from accurate.
