Americolor is the best brand food coloring. Doesn't affect taste and only takes a little for a vibrant color.

I should have heeded the advice of others here but since I love the Americolor gels I gave it a try. This color IS NOT ANYTHING CLOSE TO MAUVE. No purple hue at all. The color is muddy brown when mixed with my white royal icing and I tried it in water and it was like an army green/brown. Yuck. The color sticker on the lid looks like flesh color. Don't buy this color.
