Amazing results. I have tried numerous products and this is by far the best. I don't have animals I'm worried about and my fountain has enough movement that generally wild birds aren't bathing in it so I'm not factoring that aspect in as much. But, they do say that it's safe, and unless you've got an animal with a very fragile constitution, I'd say it's worth trying. We have a large (at least 50 gallon) fountain that had gone all winter without cleaning. I did clean it before using this, but we've had the fountain for 4 years and never had anything keep it pristine for more than a few days. This stuff knocked out some residual "green" and has kept the water absolutely clear for over a month. I am a committed fan!

The descriptive text on the amazon page indicates "Safe for plants, birds, and wildlife" and in the expanded description of the amazon page it reads: "Fountec is non-hazardous, non-staining and non-foaming. It is safe for birds, plants, and animals but not for fish. Fountec is the most effective, environmentally friendly product now available for fountain treatment." The thing is, those words do not appear on the bottle, in fact, the bottle clearly indicates that it is hazardous to humans and animals and has warnings about how hazardous this product is covering fully 1/3 of the bottle's label. I purchased this item based on the descriptive text since we have cats that "might" drink from a small fountain that I wanted to treat so I was looking specifically for non-hazardous treatment. Imagine my irritation when on receipt of the bottle, there is no trace of the descriptive text displayed on the amazon page and worse, the bottle indicates that this product is a pesticide that is quite harmful to humans and animals if either ingested or absorbed through skin contact. I will be returning this product as soon as possible!

I specifically purchased this product because the website says it is not harmful to pets and birds. However when I open the package the label clearly says precautionary statements hazards to humans and domestic animals. Website information is incorrect I will have to return product as my dogs drink from my fountain.

This has saved our fountain. We have had this fountain for almost ten years and this is the first year we have had to battle algae. I read about this product and after two weeks of using it the algae has not returned. We did empty and scrub the fountain first and adding a bit more frequently than prescribed on the back until the weather gets cooler.

This stuff is amazing at keeping bird baths and fountains clear of icky green algae. I have 8 bird baths/fountains, and it was very frustrating to try and keep them clean all summer, especially in full sun. Tried scrubbing, baking soda/vinegar, bleach and even copper pennies. Nothing really worked very well. Start with a clean bird bath, add water and a just a few drops of FounTec, and they stay clean all summer. One bottle lasts a long time. Safe for birds but not fish so this is not a product for a pond with fish. Had a pond once, that's an whole different ballgame!
