Keeps children and older adults with brain issues out of refrigerator so they can't get milk or other drinks that they can't swallow correctly without getting aspiration pneumonia.
Very effective

My elderly mother is experiencing memory function problems and stays up all night doing odd things. We purchased this product to prevent her from raiding the refrigerator late at night and in the wee hours of the morning. She takes food and dairy products out and stashes them in various places causing them to spoil or rot and she will then try to eat them or carry them around with her. The product works great. Even with a significant amount of force from a strong arm, the door cannot be opened. We are very pleased with this purchase which shipped very promptly through Amazon.
Ingeniously designed!

I wondered if this really could fit every type of refrigerator or freezer since the door shapes of mine are all very different (one has rounded edges, another has a plastic bar on the edge, etc). I bought one to try out and tested it (without peeling off the adhesive) and found that it would work with all of them! With the rounded door edge, it's long enough to reach the part of the door that's flat. With the bar edge, it angles out to go over it. It can also be installed under the handle. I'm going to order two more!
Worth the price

Miles ahead of cheap big box/superstore plastic fridge locks. I bought this to keep three children - 6, 7, 12 years old - way too old or much older than the typical refrigerator lock is targeted towards - out of our refrigerator and to stop wasting food. We've had it for about 2 months and it's still rock solid.
The kids can pull on it as hard as they can it and it won't budge. It's not going to keep a grown man from stealing a pile of money, but even with larger children or adults, this thing works. As a 200lb male myself, I can put all of my strength into it for a brief moment without it budging. But I would imagine repeated pulling with serious force would break it, but only after several minutes.
It came with the two-part lock, two alcohol swabs for cleaning and a small piece of wooly/sandpaper-like material to "rough up" the surface of the fridge to help the glue stick, and also a basic but nice MasterLock with two keys. Installation was simple and took about 10 minutes including a full pre-cleaning of the fridge that was due, anyway.
And, as mentioned, so far so good. I'm thinking of buying one for the freezer as well. We have an old-style stacked freezer/fridge, but these would work for side-by-side as well. But for the old-school stacked style, you'll need two of these. They are a little pricey but compared to plastic crappy ones that last a week if not just a few hours, these things are a worth it.

Can you say 3 teenage boys?

This was the best thing since cheese when my boys were teenagers living at home. Teenaged boys, athletic or not, will eat you out of house and home if not watched by 24 hr surveillance. Since my life didn't allot time for me to be the refrigerator police this was the next best thing. Only their dad and I had keys. LOL
The boys were highly upset because they couldn't "freely" cook whatever they wanted when they wanted.... messing up my meal plans because they've eaten the dinner food for an in between meal snack.
But they survived and are all grown up now. They're now enjoying the adult responsibility of buying groceries (that will last a while), preparing meals (not haphazardly eating) and realizing food doesn't magically appear in their fridge/freezer. I'm pretty sure my grandchildren will be calling me for assistance when they become teenagers. :0)
