i grow vegetables full time, so that means hours of digging up 100 foot rows of garlic, carrots, potatoes et cetera. this design puts all others to shame. the handle makes a big difference for your wrists when digging for 5 hours. It is also nice to not worry if it gets left in the field.
there are other nice forks, like the Joseph Bentley, but the handle is not "ergonomic".
if you only garden, digging less than a couple of hours for the whole year, id get the Joseph Bentley fork because it is more pleasing to the eye. also at that amount of digging there is no need to worry about ergonomics for yours wrists. But if your a market farmer, or a very serious homesteader get this one.
a trick to make sure your fork lasts: once the fork is in the ground do not pull down on it sideways, always pull straight down parrallel to where its facing. even slight twisting to one side or another can weaken it after hours and hours of use.

This is a professional grade hand tool. I love it! I am getting a whole set now due to the quality of this fork. IF I ever bend the tines or break the handle, it will be replaced, but I would have to abuse and misuse this to do any damage.
