How do I rave about a toilet seat? This Medic-Aid raised toilet seat is just what I've been looking for! I have knee and hip problems so bending low is an issue. I bought a 3" toilet seat rise before, but it was a little too high and hard to keep clean. This Bemis raised seat raises the seat almost 2". The open split front is convenient. But the best feature is that it is easy to keep clean! It looks like a normal toilet seat; and it is hinged like a normal toilet seat so you can lift both the lid and the seat for thorough cleaning. That's a plus for me!

I purchased the item as a gift. It was a struggle to remove the old seat because of rusted bolts, but installation of the new seat was easy. Unfortunately, the front of the new seat is not level with the toilet rim. The back end of the seat rests on the toilet, but the supports for the front end sit up in the air approximately one inch above the toilet rim and do not contact the toilet without downward pressure being applied to the seat. The person I bought the item for appreciates the fact that the new seat is higher than the old one and has not complained, but I am not satisfied. I intend to contact the manufacturer after the weekend to discuss the situation. If there is not a simple and effective fix, I would consider requesting a replacement. For safety, I like the fact that the seat is secured to the toilet by two bolts like a normal toilet seat compared to other raised seats available on Amazon that attach less securely.

Update: The manufacturer's customer service representative asked me questions in trying to troubleshoot the situation. After asking several questions, she made the decision to promptly ship a replacement toilet seat, which I have received. I would do business with this company again based on the quality of the customer service.

This is a nice toilet set and is easy to clean. Looks more like a normal bathroom toilet seat than many of the ones for disabled accessibility.
However, the lid does not have the ability to close slowly and will slam down with a very loud BANG if you don't hold it as it descends.

This is a real disadvantage from our perspective. For this amount of money you would think they could have the same ability to do a slow close as the cheap $25.00 seats we have seen at local hardware stores.

This is the best solution to sitting too low on a normal toilet seat. I have tried most of them. It is lightweight. It was in perfect condition when it was delivered. The box was damaged but I knew that when ordering it at a reduced price. I was not sure at the time of order if I was going to be happy with the quality of the item but as described, the box was damaged but the item was in perfect condition. A great bargain.

Installed this seat for my elderly (86 & 80) in-laws yesterday. Appears to be very good quality. It is the first product like this that I've seen that addresses the sliding around issue that similar products have. It does that by having bottom protruding molded plastic spikes that hang down inside the toilet bowl. Sliding is limited to 1/4" to 1/2" maximum and may not occur at all due to the bolt fastening method. The bolts come with plastic torque adjusted break-off heads that get tightening just right.
