Disappointed that this is not a particularly robust wall safe. To even call it a "SAFE" is a stretch. Mine arrived with a corner of the wall flange bent at about 10 degrees, meaning that it would not sit flush with the wall. There was no evidence of shipping damage, so I suspect someone at the manufacturer dinged it or dropped it on a corner before paint. The paint had some irregular globs -- if you aren't going to conceal it, take that into account. As for the security, although the steel seemed to be a reasonably thick gauge, I was able to bend back by hand the corner of the flange that arrived damaged. Whatever alloy it is, it's not particularly tough. My assessment is that it's highly breachable, not only simple means of banging on the door with a hand sledge to bend the inner bead of steel that secures the lock, but also by simple pry work, since the door bead is fairly exposed and the hinge is pretty cheap. Basically the level of security you are getting is what you would find in a $15 department store strong box, if you screwed it into some studs inside a wall. I paid $30 and in my opinion that's a fair price but not any kind super deal -- again, don't purchase this box expecting something equivalent to a higher priced wall safe..

Safe would not unlock, called customer service. They were very good, went through different things that could be wrong. Was told we may have to call a locksmith to have the lock drilled out. Well the safe was only $30 so that was out. I have a little 6" pry bar, took me about 1 second to open this thing. Lock broke like it was made of butter. Guess you get what you pay for. So if you want to keep your things safe! This item is not what you are looking for.

To mount in a wall in an obscure place to keep your daily carry away from easy access when it is not in your direct control...basically children and casual family/friends.

What IT IS NOT...it is not a super secure high dollar wall safe for the Crown Jewels, your Gold Kurgerrands or Goring's Luger...while secure against easy access...it can be easily defeated with a fairly large pry bar and a minute or so by someone so inclined...

Just remember...it cost a little over $30.00 with free Prime shipping...it's not fire proof and it's not made by Browning...but it does what it is made to do...prevent EASY ACCESS by most people/kids to something they do not need easy access to...when you choose.

It seems to be well made for the price, works properly and is very easy to install once you choose a suitable location that fits your needs.

Packaging of the item was good. There were no dings and dents. Paint is of high quality and done very well. Spot welds holding the piece together are marginal, with one spot weld that had broken apart. The piano hinge is good quality, but the aluminum rivets holding it to the case are too weak. The internal locking mechanism is to deep, such that it limits the ability to hold multiple fire arms in the cabinet. This is really a 2 gun, side by side cabinet not a 3 gun. I was able to hold a scoped bolt action 7mm Rem Mag and semi auto 12 ga sitting sideways in this cabinet. They should really make the cabinet 1/4" narrower, as mine required persuasion and stud trimming to fit in my wall cavity. I'm sure it's because my studs were not the perfect distance apart.
To state the obvious, this will not keep out a professional theif if they know it's there. It is not a safe, it's a lockable steel cabinet. However, it easily conceals behind a door and will keep out kids and honest people.
