Very good first dollhouse!

We've been working on this dollhouse for quite a while now. Definitely don't buy this if you're thinking it will only take a few days! For the most part, we really like it. It's been fun decorating and putting it together piece by piece. We did have to adjust the openings and tabs a bit, as walls and floors didn't fit together exactly right, but that wasn't too bad. I think it's a good product for the money. Everything else that goes in it now - flooring, paint, finishes, wall paper, furniture, etc etc etc - now, that's where the money will go!! Great hobby, good starter house. I would recommend for the beginner.
It was not a fun experience. I'd say shell out the extra money ...

I got it to try out dollhouse making. Components were cheap (I mean you get what you pay for). It was not a fun experience. I'd say shell out the extra money and get a more expensive one so you don't have the headache of uneven wood, poor perforations, and sizing issues.
With a little thought and effort this dollhouse will be very nice for any child or collector.

I have been a model builder for most of my 55 years and I can tell you with 100% certainty that this kit is very typical of ALL die cut wooden kits.
It is not a puzzle that just needs to be glued together, it is a wooden kit that will need some minor fitting and sanding to go together correctly.
Anyone can build this kit, it will just take a little time and thought to get it to go together nicely.

I have opened and tinkered with the pieces, however, I have not put this together yet.... But it seems to be of decent quality with the exception of the shingles as they were all broken apart and all over the box. The directions aren't very detailed but they look to be ok enough to figure out. Everything does need to be thoroughly sanded, so I would suggest having extra sandpaper on hand because I have only found one small sheet in the box. Other than those issues it seems like a fair buy for the price. I hope to put it together very soon!
The shingles that come with the kit are useless. Buy strip of laser cut shingles

Very time consuming project. You get what you pay for. Well over 35 hours of time spent on the project. Because of the degree of quality of the wood, it is difficult to work with and there are areas that are not well shaped or line up. The shingles that come with the kit are useless. Buy strip of laser cut shingles, they are much easier to work with. I would not recommend a die cut kit such as this one to a first time builder. The end result is cute but if you are striving for perfection, consider a laser cut, more expensive kit.
