My dad was cheap and bought a thrift sale plastic seat. Now that both my parents have passed we wanted to redo many things in their home. We had my mothers bathroom toilet replaced and this was the type of seat the plumber used on the new install. It looked great and was comfortable. So my dad's toilet didn't need replacing but that cheap plastic garbage seat did. We bought this Bemis seat and what a difference it makes. It is solid and probably one of the most comfortable seats without paying hundreds of dollars for top of the line. It is so nice that we are replacing our toilets and will make sure they all use this Bemis toilet seat.

If you have a grey toilet (80's), this one will likely match. Bemis was the only manufacturer I could find that made one in grey, even though it's only plastic. It has release latches for removal and cleaning of the seat. Product seems durable and the value is good.

I ordered the "Ice Grey" as a replacement for a molded plastic Bemis seat on an American Standard toilet color #192 (which I could find NOWHERE online, probably made around 1990), but is a light silvery-grey. I was torn between Silver and Ice-Grey, but I guessed right, as the color is nearly a spot-on match.

The seat is easy to attach but, as another reviewer mentioned, the wings on the bolts underneath may prevent you from tightening them all the way, depending on the contour of your bowl. The easy solution is to hand tighten it as far as possible, then use a screwdriver to turn the plastic screw from above, while holding the bolt underneath. This worked fine, and created a tight connection.

This seat does wiggle a little more than others due to two factors. First, the "Easy Clean & Change" feature with the twist hinges creates a less-than-perfect bond between seat and hinge. It's nice if you frequently take your toilet seat completely off for cleaning (who actually DOES that?!) or plan to change seats every few weeks. The other problem is a design flaw: the seat has two ridge supports underneath at the front, but none toward the back. Most toilet seats have FOUR ridge supports underneath, which helps distribute the user's weight evenly. This seat, if pressed toward either rear quadrant, twists slightly. It remains to be seen how this affects the product's longevity.

Overall, this is a solid seat, looks nice, but again, time will tell how the finish holds up, and whether its inherent slight "wiggliness" will shorten the seat's useful life. I was going to give it 3 stars, but am rating it a 4 due to the reasonable price.

Easy to install. Well made. A perfect match for my 30 year old grey toilet. So happy that I found this replacement.
