Initial Observations: quality is good. Too short for my hand. Seems I need to add 1/4 - 3/8" spacer.
Thinking about making my own woodenxhandle from walnut.

Fine tamper, plastic handle not resistant enough to impact

We liked this tamper; works fine, decent weight.
Recently fell on kitchen tile floor and the "impact resistant" ABS handle lost its "resistance" and broke. Buying a different tamper to replace it with.

Works great for consistent tamping. I like the weight and feel. I did notice that one of my 58mm baskets doesn't quite seem to fit this tamper. I suspect that issue is on the maker of the espresso machine rather than the tamper. It fits perfectly in my other 4 portafilters, including the bottomless.

Precise fit for a Gaggia Classic portafilter. Having a tight tolerance between the portafilter and tamper makes channeling far less likely and seems to make it easier to get a level tamp. If you're on the fence about getting a more expensive tamper than the cast pot metal ones here on Amazon, it makes a huge difference.

When I first used my RW 58mm tamper I could easily notice the build quality compared to the oringal tamper that came with my Gaggia Classic. It has a nice heavy feel and tampers nice and evenly consistently. Fits my 58mm portafilter from my Gaggia Classic just perfectly. Using a quality tamper with help create consistent espresso shots. The price is a little steep but you definitely get what you pay for.
