It's quite good for price. Makes sandwiches with the edges sealed shut, but not so much that the bread gets too compacted/hard. Cheese slices do melt and get runny, but I'd blame the cheese slices. It works fine with regular grated cheese,

I bought this sandwich maker as a little piece of nostalgia- in renemberance of my time abroad in college. We had one of these sandwich makers and practically lived off of ketchup and cheese sandwiches. Sounds odd I know, but when made in one of these sandwich presses they're actually kinda tasty. Anyhow I've been nothing but pleased with this little gadget. It's nothing fancy, but I'll be darned if it doesn't make the tastiest grilled cheese ever- and without any butter or oil to boot!
