love that you can adjust the sweep pot ,,that's a big deal
Great sound, cheap materials

This wah pedal has excellent sound quality. I understand that to keep costs down, BBE had to use more plastic than metal. I'm just a little worried that my pedal won't last as long as I would like it to. Also, the wah is a little too sensitive in certain pedal positions. Other than that, this is a great unit. For the price, this wah does its job just fine.
Wah-some!

I've been gigging 3-5 nights a week with this wah for almost 10 years, and haven't had one single bit of trouble. It sounds great, and it's built like a tank. Great product!
With some mods, sounds close to my old Italian "stack of dimes" King Vox Wah

EDIT: 4/23/2017

*I've replaced the ICAR 100K pot from eBay with the original pot that the BBE came with, and after some more experimentation, I think the original pot sounds better. I cleaned it out with some electronics contact cleaner and it took care of the scratchiness, and then put a rubber cap over the pot to protect it from dust. I've contacted BBE to see if getting replacement pots is possible, since the stock pot works so well with this pedal and sounds so good.*

I installed a Foxrox Retrofit buffer in this wah and now it plays nice with fuzz. If you search "gearpage bbe wah foxrox buffer" one thread will come up about this. If you search "Foxrox Retrokit into BBE wah" you'll find another thread with more detailed instructions on how to do this.

I also installed a replica ICAR 100K pot from eBay.

To top it all off, I adjusted the sweep. With the pedal face down and the cover off, I loosened the screw holding the nylon piece in place (that keeps the tension against the rack, so your wah stays put and doesn't flop all over the place), and moved it to the side. I then gently pulled the rack back from the pot.

Starting from the pot in the maxed out position (rotated fully away from me, i.e. in the full treble position, with the pedal fully depressed), I rotated the pot toward me, to the equivalent of one "tooth" on the rack. Pushing the rack against the shaft of the pot will pull it into alignment, and then you simply tighten the screw again.

After some more experimenting, I decided to turn the pot toward me 3 full "teeth" on the rack. Each "tooth" you move it toward you, it'll take some high end out of the sweep and leave you with a more throaty wah, like you hear in "Voodoo Child" or "White Room." Keep trying and you'll find a 'sweet spot' that you like.

Just be mindful of the rotation of the pot, and don't adjust it too far either way to make sure you don't damage the pot by hyper-extending it.

That got it about dead-on for the Hendrix/Clapton wah sweep. It takes the high-end, ice-picky tone of the wah out of the sweep. At first I thought one "tooth" would do it, but I needed to move it back 3.

I do think the ICAR 100K pot I put in here was a little brighter than the stock pot that BBE uses.

I have a circa 1967 King Vox wah, made in Italy with an '03' stack of dimes inductor. I recorded two clips of "Voodoo Child," put them next to each other, and...the BBE with the mods I mentioned sounds VERY close.

I got my BBE used and it did have some scratchiness on the pot. I had a replacement ready to go so that was no problem. And it was also squeaking bad. The squeak was coming from the rear-end of the pedal, on the metal bar. I lithium greased the rack and pinion thinking that would do it but it did nothing. Some WD-40 sprayed into that metal bar that the wah pivots on, in the back, did the trick.

Contact cleaner can go a long way in helping scratchy pots. After tuning up my wah and setting it up the way I like it it sounds awesome, with or without fuzz. I set the Foxrox buffer to have a little boost, maybe around 3dB, which I also think helps the tone and sound of the wah.

Overall I'm very impressed and very happy with this wah. I love the way it looks too.
Severly underrated

Played this next to a vox with the halo inductor and a crybaby with the fasel....this beat them both. Hands down the best funk wah I've ever played.....and I'm the son of Shaft
