When I built shelves along one wall of my living room, I provided an area for the large projection television I had at the time. I eventually upgraded to a 60" Sony as it was the largest flat screen set I could fit into the spot I allocated for a television. I decided to upgrade to an 86" LG and needed to develop a way to mount the larger television to the shelving, as it would not fit into the hole I originally provided. I found the VideoSecu 24" bracket, ordered it from Amazon and began designing the support brackets for it. I based my design on the published dimensions contained in the description on Amazon, cut and stained the 2x4s on Friday morning, stained the wood and installed the brackets that afternoon. The bracket arrived late Friday evening and on Saturday morning, I unboxed it to start its installation, only to find out that the dimensions provided were incorrect. Instead of being 12" tall, the bracket that mounts to the wall is actually 12 1/2" tall. With the bracket pushed up against the bottom of the shelf and the top two lag bolts installed, the bottom two lag bolts would miss the center of the 2x4 and have inadequate holding power. I spent the next two hours removing the bottom 2x4 bracket and lowering it 1/2" to allow the lower lag bolts to be inserted in the center of the 2/4. I should have waited for the bracket to arrive before installing the supports, but I trusted the published dimensions. They were not correct and added about two hours to the project.
On other issue I encountered is the two brackets that are installed on the television using the VESA mounting holes have plastic shims to cushion them to the horizontal support brackets. I tried sliding the two brackets onto the horizontal supports and could not do so without resorting to using a hammer to fully seat them. The new television arrives on Thursday. Hopefully once the brackets are installed on the television, my brother and I will be able to get the brackets to more easily slide onto the horizontal brackets.
I will update this review once the television has arrived.

Simple and effective

Was a little hesitant. Can't always trust reviews to be honest. I got this and was pleasantly surprised. The build quality is solid, all the moving parts move with ease and without sound.
Installation was easy enough. TV was hung without a problem. Can be done with one person but two people make it easier.
If you pass the wires back behind the wall it's a real clean look. Using with a 48 inch TV and I can get a great glare free picture head on, angle it fully to one side enough to either watch on the back deck or angle it fully to the other side and watch in the kitchen. I'll most likely order a second for the basement. Simple and effective are the selling features here.

Four years later, I'm so glad I bought this thing

I bought this mount to move a 65" LCD TV off a stand and on to a wall about four years ago. It was a bit of a pain to put up (two person job, IMHO), but it worked really well for me. Good adjustability in every direction that I needed it.
Well, smash cut to this year. I have a new TV, and I gotta swap out the old one for it. Here's where this mount shines. I was able to do that in about fifteen minutes - remove the locking brackets, pull the old TV off the mount, swap the mounting brackets to the new TV, put the new TV on the mount, and then replace the locking brackets. It was maybe the smoothest TV install I've ever done, and this mount was largely responsible for it. If you have a big 65"+ TV, this is the mount you want.

TV rail brackets to wall mount

I purchased this unit because of the fact that the wall studs to mount the unit to were not centered to the desired location of the TV. I needed a system that could span wider distance (than 16" on center wall studs) which this unit provided. I was impressed with this unit's weight handling specifications, and the flexibility to center, level, and tilt the TV.
It was delivered with all the appropriate hardware for the job and met all of my expectations except the assembly. When I went to mount the 55 inch flat screen TV (with rails already attached) to the wall mount bracket, I discovered that the rails would not engage to the wall mount to full depth. I ultimately used a 3 pound rubber mallet to literally beat the TV rails onto the wall mount!
I discovered that because of the shear weight of this mount, this is definitely a two-person job to install, so prepare yourself accordingly.
I down-rated this unit because of the fact that the TV rails to the mount did not engage properly.

This is an awesome wall mount for your TV. We mounted an older 55" Panasonic TV on it that had to weigh at least 100 lbs, and it didn't have any problem supporting it, even when fully extended. The articulation was key, as where this is mounted, we need the ability to swivel it if desired. I have no doubt that this will stay in place. DO NOT USE THE INCLUDED DRYWALL ANCHORS. I don't know what person decided that it would be okay to mount items that are potentially 100+ pounds with just drywall, but do not attempt that. Just put it on studs. There are enough slots in the mounting mechanism to find any pitch of studs. The mechanism to secure the pitch up and down of the TV doesn't work too well if you pull on the TV, but it performs adequately for the weight of the TV that's on there.
For the price, this cannot be beat, and the number of 5 star reviews speaks for itself.
