If you have ever tried to pull a weed and get the root with a shovel, you will want to read this. I had never seen or hear of this tool before my neighbor was using one and I asked about it. This tool completely and easily removed the entire plant and root. With just a press. I was amazed. Clearly I was just learning about gardening, but don't judge. I bought one of these asap and had it shipped prime because I had just bought a foreclosed home to rehab and there were weeds everywhere! I didn't just want this tool- I NEEDED it!! For my sanity! Since I have gotten it I try to work it into every conversation (stimulating right? Lol!) just in case someone was a gardening novice like me at the time. Just trying to share something I wish I had known about for years. One thing to note- it's a great tool but if your yard is big, this might not be for you. It's good for upkeep or a small area but it will take a while if you have an acre+ yard to pull.
Good tool. Needs a little design tweaking.

With a little tweaking this could be a great tool. Two things I don't like about it. 1. The length from the bottom of the fulcrum to the fork is too short, and you tend to just break off the dandelion root rather than pulling the whole thing out, because you just cannot get the fork far enough down. I'm expecting to have to re-pull many of the dandelion weeds, and I won't even start complaining about the self-propagating abilities of thistle roots if you leave any of those pieces behind. 2. The wood handle has routed grooves that rub against your palm; the handle also can bruise the palm where you're pushing against it to get the fork as far down in the earth as possible. Wearing gloves greatly mitigates problem #2. A longer handle and forget the grooves and it would be better. That said, the whole fulcrum idea is brilliant and it's a useful tool, especially if you can get out there and pull weeds after a good soaking rain. For the add-on price I paid for it, it's something I'm glad to have purchased.
Good hand tool for removing dandelions, better for larger plants

I've had a dandelion takeover in my front yard, and I don't like using chemicals, so I'm trying this out. I was looking at long handled weeders, and saw this one. The price was right, and I like the classic design. It works well for larger dandelion plants, but the smaller ones tend to slip through the forked end of the tool. You can still get them, but it takes some extra effort. I like the leverage provided by the curved metal section. It seems well constructed and I like the wooden handle. I'm just getting started, but I'm already making a dent in the dandelion population, and my yard is looking better. I'm happy about not needing to use herbicides.
My Newest Favorite Tool, Won't Go Without Again

This amazing weed tool has been a pleasure to use in my lawn for dandelions and various other weeds. It took me a few minutes to develop a great technique, and now I feel like a pro after an hour-and-a-half. I filled up a 5 gallon bucket twice in this time with weeds, and I'm confident they won't be back since this tool pries out the root. At first, I was attacking the roots a bit too deeply, and now I feel I can asses an adequate depth to plunge this into the soil, and at the right angle, for quick and efficient work based on the size of each given weed. I'm just amazed at how great my lawn looks immediately! No need to spray and wait for days only to have remaining brown dead spots of weeds throughout the lawn. I still plan to spot spray certain areas with clover and smaller weeds, but the bulk of the work is already done thanks to this great tool. My lawn looks better, Ill use less chemicals, Ill spend less money, and I have much more satisfaction with immediate results. A previous post said it best..."Where has this been all my life?!"
OLD TIME WORKHORSE-, review on how it works on those huge ugly weeds!!!!

We love this little tool and hate weeding! Pre script-I can not stress how beautiful this tool is, and a wonderful size.:
*We hate picking weeds, but who does't? This tool amazed both my husband and I. (It is very 'pretty'- beautifully made!)
*We have those HEAVY DUTY dandelion weeds that have a root that grows forever BUT using this- when used correctly- actually works.
* The first time we used this weeder I felt like a child discovering something for the first time- it was easy to use and the root came out with the ugly weed! I kept saying "look- look- it really works- look"!
*You have to put the fork in all the way, about an half inch from the weed, set down the flex (the bulbous part)- then push down on the handle- the key is the flexrake- it sits against the ground and does the work for you.
*It works on small flowery weeds to the big ugly weeds we have been calling plants for years!
*You may think you do not need another weed tool. If you purchase and do not like, give it to someone else, because I guarantee, SOMEONE you know will appreciate this tool- I am buying one for my son!
ONE SMALL BIT that BOTHERS ME.... the fork does not release the root easily. You have to remove with your hand over half the time, but geez, if I am that picky I really need a gardener!
**VERY HAPPY I BOUGHT THIS for my husband!!!!!
