Bought this for a camping trip I was going on with my family. I have a ton of knives from high end fixed blades like Strider to high end folders like Chris Reeve and everything in between , but I needed a good around camp all purpose do anything knife and the BK9 was a perfect choice. Nice thick blade for chopping but yet still sharp as hell and very easy to sharpen . The only drawback is the handles can get slippery and I prefer G10 handles ( which I will be purchasing aftermarket and installing them ) , but other than that this knife is awesome..Very pleased with purchase and suggest anyone looking for a big versatile knife grab one of these for this price, one of the best under $100 knives I've ever bought
Ka-Bar quality: what can I say
Boris ChangAugust 21, 2017
I bought this because I already have a shorter Ka-Bar survival/combat knife and was looking for something sort of a cross between a survival knife and macheté - and this nicely fits the bill. The knife is very well-made. I know I can count on Ka-Bar so I won't take chances on something cheaper.

Best bushcraft and survival knife I've used so far. It can chop down a tree, baton it down into firewood, shave feather sticks as good as my mora and whittle and carve hardwoods 10 times better too. It has a great balance with a comfortable handle with no hotspots. Yet it's light enough to chop with it for hours on end. Seriously! Stays sharp, sharp , sharp and sharpens even sharper. I have batoned knotty hard wood that tested my limits and I can tell you that I might fail, the wood might fail but my 9 is indestructable!
Excellent big knife / perfect price

great knife. Nearly indestructible. I use it for everything from cooking to clearing brush. It holds the edge very nicely, I have filleted fish and cut tomatoes after chopping wood. The sheath is adequate, but I bought the knife not the sheath and made a much better sheath out of kydex. Planning to change out the scales for some custom ones of iron wood. This was THE best price for this knife anywhere.
P. Good Knife Y'all!

As a fan of Becker knives, its exactly the quality I expect. I use the BK2, BK16, and BK14, and this knife exhibits the same qualities that those knives are known for. If the dimensions, profile, and steel meet your needs, it's a great competitor to something maybe like the ESEE Junglas, or RTAK II; certainly at the price point. It doesn't come with snazzy micarta scales, but I prefer the feel and durability of Becker's standard plastic scales anyway. It comes sharp, but who cares? You should be able to sharpen or reprofile the edge on your own knives if you're going to bother to own them.

I stripped mine, and changed the hardware to stainless to match, but that's really all of the modification that I felt necessary.
