Really nice mount for the price

As others have pointed out, this can be mounted vertically by removing the 3 bolts and replacing them once oriented vertically. I have it screwed into a 2x10 floor joist in an unfinished basement as such. You can also fit a few cables up the mount itself to help hide them. I managed to fit a braided HDMI cable, TV power cord, and a thin USB line for a remote up mine. It is a great mount for a decent price. The attached pic shows the item mounted as described.

With the way this hangs, I"‹ wish it was easier to tilt down after its set up. with it being up high, you almost have to crane your neck.
This is a good product, but I should have considered something else a little different for myself. A cover of sorts would also have been nice to hide the unsightly mount.

Exactly what I was looking for. I have hardwood ceilings with beams going across. This did the trick to ceiling mount my 55" Samsung from the ceiling directly above my fireplace. I did not want to drill in to the brick. Came with plenty of hardware and connected to my TV using the 400x400 configuration.

This is a very well made base, it has all kind of possible adjustments for any situation, it comes complete, even with the extensions, easy to install and adjust, I am installing a 55" TV for my business.

Very impressed with the quality and ease of use of this mount. It came fully assembled (I was expecting to receive a box of loose parts) with only the extension arms for the larger sized TVs to be added. I simply screwed on the extension arms, mounted to the back of the TV and then screwed the mounting plate to the ceiling. 30mins to install at most. The mount comes with a variety of mounting hardware for different surfaces and different sized bolts for the mounting plate on the back of the TV. I hung a 50in flat screen and it's very sturdy. Very happy with what I got, and the price was great too!
