Excellent, Versatile, High Utility, Built Like a Tank, and a Lot of Value for the Money

This is my second RP1000 - after years of gigging with my old one, I bought another after I broke a knob and the power supply went out (in which case I realized that the old version I owned had a strange power supply that was almost impossible to find - Digitech cured the power supply issue in this version). But believe me, this thing is built like a tank, and is extremely versatile both for live gigs and home use. I use it mainly to run it 4 cable method using my Mesa Boogie Mark V 25 pre-amp and some analog boosts/pedals I really like. I mostly utilize its gate, wah, and infinite per-patch reverbs/delays/modulation. I do use the overdrives and EQ as well. I sparingly use the amp models now that I have my Mesa, although I liked a good many of them and believe most players will find some they like. What can I say - for the price, this is an excellent multi-effects processor and A LOT OF BANG FOR YOUR BUCK. You could spend thousands of dollars trying to acquire all of these effects, and you still would not have the versatility and useability. And please know, I truly appreciate analog pedals/effects and recognize that there are some that digital counterparts cannot faithfully mimic, but that's the beauty of this unit - you can incorporate those too. I only wish Digitech would take the next step and incorporate a chain that would activate whatever analog pedals you also have hooked up on a per-patch basis - that would be the ultimate.

Just an outstanding product. Replaced amp and several stomp boxes into one unit. I mostly play in churches or similar type settings(Celebrate Recovery meetings) and volume is critical issue when wanting a perticular tone. The Digitech RP 1000 gives me great sounds and effects and I run straight into the sound board which is then able to control over all volume. Fantastic for recording too.
Might make a good mono pedal box.

Disappointed . First and most major problem was that everything through the headphones and outputs were panned left . Not hard left but left enough to notice. Even if i put it through my multi track and tried to balance it in true stereo , it didn't work. You cant add signal that's not there with volume . When i did it modulated and sounded crappy . Some people had told me the device must be defective , im wondering if they are all this way knowing that most people are going to use it as a pedal box in mono thus putting more signal emphasis on the left output . Understandable but if this is the case they should have a way to edit it and make it true stereo.
Second , the presets were terrible ( except some of the cleans and acoustics ) this seems par for the course on many units like this. Seems kinda silly being that people will try them out in music stores. Youd think they would write some decent demo patches .
The good ? If you do some tweaking you can get some great 5150 , Messa boggie Dual rec , and marshall master volume tones on your own patches. If you do alot of tweaking you can get those specific amp mods sounding hot .
I could go on but its not that great . It is built like a tank , would make a good mono pedal board but it has too many drawbacks/flaws for me.
A word to the wise - i myself am looking for top notch tone in a box but its the old " you get what you par for " . $300 will get you a $300 sound . $1000 will get you a $1000 dollar sound. You cant really get around that.
My next purchase will be a major upgrade.

Really great sounds and perfect for direct recording

I bought a GNX3 ten years ago and abused it for 7 years until it finally broke and shorted out. This one is an improved version and I expect it to last a long time also. Really great sounds and perfect for direct recording. It sounds like a perfectly positioned microphone on a quality amp. It is very programmable. This model has the feature that allows you to bypass everything except the stompboxes if you want to run the signal through your amplifier unmuddied by the amp simulators and eq that is built in. The earlier model did not have that which was my only complaint. For the price of 3 effects pedals it is the deal of the century.
I'm sure this is a good pedal for the right situation

I'm sure this is a good pedal for the right situation, but I HATED the tones... I bought it right after I purchased a brand new Fender USA Custom EVH Wolfgang, and a 5150 III 2x12, thinking I would be able to get all the effects I wanted without spending 4 times as much on the individual pedals. Whether in the FX loop or out in front, the sounds were horrible, through the 5150 III, returned it the day after getting it. Again, I'm sure it is just NOT the right amp to play this through, as I have always used Digitech effect boards until I bought this new amp, and have always LOVED them... the 5150 III's I know are a little finicky with multi effects processors that it will play nice with, but this for sure is not one of them! Despite personally hating the tones on it, it seemed to have been built INCREDIBLY well. I do think they should bring back in the built in recorder/drum machine that they used to have built in to their higher end models back in the day.
