Great tool. Expensive
Bruce BaldwinMay 2, 2017
Great tool. Expensive, but really well made and well designed. You get what you pay for with this tool. It comes with two different pairs of cutters and a plastic case. The other adjustable hole saws I have can mar the surface of the ceiling because when you cut through it, the bar that holds the cutters can dig into the sheetrock. This one is designed to avoid that problem. Cuts fast and cleanly.
I'm an electrician and I love this tool

I'm an electrician and I love this tool. I should have purchased it long before I did. First time I used it to cut out recessed lighting I put down drop cloths and when I was done I still had clean drop cloths.
I used this with a cordless drill on the low speed setting.
The hole saw worked better than I could have imagined
Happy CamperMarch 6, 2017
The hole saw worked better than I could have imagined. My electrician couldn't believe how well it worked, and he's been doing this kind of work for twenty years. I did six 5+ inch holes in a plaster ceiling in fifteen minutes. I had to redo two holes because we measured incorrectly for the ceiling joists. I was able to move one hole 2" and another one 4" without a problem - and that's impressive. It's well worth the money as a labor saver - minimal cleanup, precision results, and recessed lights that are solidly mounted! One added benefit - everyone is happy that this part of the job went so well
I purchased this for a 46 speaker ceiling speaker installation ...

I purchased this for a 46 speaker ceiling speaker installation job. The hole saw was used to cut the mounting holes in suspended drop ceiling panels, the high speed steel blades cut a very clean hole. I did need to remove the tension spring for cutting into the drop ceiling, the force needed to compress the spring would lift the ceiling panel out of place.
With removing the spring I needed to hold the plastic bowl with one hand up against the
ceiling panel while cutting. The bowl did catch a lot of the dirt but there was still some
dust puffing out around edges of the bowl where it was up against the ceiling. After checking above the ceiling to make sure your not going to cut into anything close the open panel back up before cutting, that will save some dirt from coming through the open panel. There's no need to remove the panel you want to cut, for access to the ceiling I opened a panel next to the one I was cutting to mount the speaker in. One set of blades lasted for all 46 cut outs.
That's good if you're cutting large holes
skiersailorNovember 7, 2016
This tool works well, but beware of a few things. The instructions mistakenly say that the hole size is measured from the inside of the cutting bit holders. That's not true - you need to read the hole size from the outside of the holders, not the inside. The ruler marks are accurate as long as you align them with the outside edges. The catch basin is also relatively large. That's good if you're cutting large holes, but if you're cutting smaller holes you won't be able to cut them very close to other obstructions because the catch basin will get in the way. There is a rubber seal on the catch basin that appears to be non-marking, but I needed to touch up my ceiling from the marks the catch basin made due to the force required to plunge the drill. Make sure that the drill reaches full speed before plunging or the bits will catch. Plunge slowly and at high speed to avoid catching the bits.
