Like this pencils .easy to see writes on almost everything good price. On downside is the every now and then u get one that the til constantly breaks while sharpening

These are a perfect alternative to marking steel for cutting or for welding. Much better than using a soap stone which doesn't provide a refined line as easily. Much better than a fat grease marker and more controllable than inscribing a line in the metal.
Sharpens easily with a regular pencil sharpener.
Granted the line doesn't show up very well on clean steel that the mill scale has been removed on but when rough cutting on uncleaned steel the line stands out very well.
Great purchase for anyone that does precise work with steel.

They write well on rusty or scaled steel. Not so much on clean, bright metal.

These pencils are great for anyone working with metal. I am a welder and used these pencil to mark my areas for cutting. One thing I like about these pencils is that marks will not go away if there is extreme heat. Soapstone have their place but sometime I have to remark the piece because it got erase. With the Nissen pencil the mark stays in place. If you want to erase the mark all you have to do is rubber your finger of over the it and done. Also, the pencil marks glows when welding making it easier to see. For me, these Nissen pencils are a most for anyone working with metal.
